POSITION: Junior Technical Advisor

Project Overview: 

The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH has been involved in Ghana regarding international development cooperation for over 30 years. The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has tasked GIZ with executing the Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition” in Ghana. As Africa’s population is expected to double to 2.5 billion by 2050, the continent requires 20 million new jobs each year. This objective can only be attained through collaboration with the private sector.

Role Scope 

The Junior Technical Advisor will be allocated to the Ghanaian SME segment of Invest for Jobs and will assist with project development and management tasks for the Unit.

Duties:

• Assist in the creation and execution of initiatives within the Ghanaian SME segment of Invest for Jobs.
• Assist in the creation of technical project documents including concept notes, terms of reference, memoranda of understanding (MOUs), work plans, and others for project execution.
• Assist in the creation of contract documents for the different projects within the component.
• Assist in the administrative tasks related to assigned and other project implementation activities of the team.
• Assist in the planning and organization of workshops, seminars, and various events.
• Assist in creating presentation materials for both external and internal purposes.
• Facilitate ongoing interaction and coordination with partner organizations and pertinent stakeholders.
• Assist in the reporting and knowledge management for Invest for Jobs.
• Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of current initiatives within the component.
• Performs designated research activities necessary for planning the execution of projects or programs.
• Gathers the necessary information for collaborative tasks and projects.
• Aids short-term specialists assigned to projects in finishing their duties.
• Aids in reflections on the overall strategic direction and methodology, mainly through planning and learning processes at the programme level.

Qualification Required & Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Economics related to development, Management, Social Sciences, Project Management, Development Studies, or similar fields from an accredited educational institution.
• Preliminary experience in the field of SME advancement, T-VET & Skills Enhancement or collaboration and growth in the private sector.
• Understanding and expertise in the use of Microsoft Office and similar software
• Deep analytical and conceptual abilities, excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal skills with the capacity to thrive in a multicultural setting.
• Driven team contributor with an organized, methodical, proactive, detail-focused, and goal-directed work style.
• Strong proficiency in the English language (both written and spoken)
