Role: Technical Advisor

Project Brief:
The develoPPP measure on “Enhancing Local Procurement in Ghana’s Mining Sector” aims at fully unfolding the potential of local procurement in the mining sector. The project builds on previous initiatives of Golden Star (Wassa) Ltd. and the main implementation partner “Mining Shared Value” and aims at scaling them up and get other mining sites on board of an impactful multi-stakeholder process.
Scope of Role:
The Technical Advisor is primarily responsible for providing technical advice and implementing selected work packages. The TA will work closely with the responsible Project Manager and the develoPPP Team Lead on the public contribution to the PPP project, especially with regards to training of SMEs, Monitoring and Evaluation, certification issues as well as related communication and administrative tasks
Tasks:
- Firstly, Identifying potential opportunities in the Western Region for new and existing businesses to be suppliers in the mining sector. Liaising with other GIZ projects on topics of TVET, SMEs training and governance issues in the mining sector.
- Secondly, Facilitate networking with relevant stakeholders in the sector, especially with national ministries, regional and local authorities. Preparing necessary documents for the procurement of both material goods and services in line with GIZ Ghana’s requirements.
- Thirdly, Preparing of business trips for GIZ project staff as well as consultants in close coordination with the develoPPP Office Manager. Supporting all internal and external communication and leading Monitoring & Evaluation of KPIs.
- Moreover, General support to the Project Manager with implementing the project measures.
Profile:
- Completed university studies (Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree) in a field of study relevant to the position; preferably Economics, Business Management, or Development Studies
- Then, Proven experience in setting-up training and advisory schemes for SMEs.
- Also, Initial working experience in international development, preferably already some experience dealing with GIZ and/or public-private partnerships. Experience on skills gap assessment or certification in the TVET sector is an asset.
- Moreover, Solid understanding of Monitoring & Evaluation and the ability to analyze and present data using Excel/PowerPoint. Motivated team player who is well organized, independent, proactive, detail- and goal-oriented in their work approach.
- Additionally, Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Teams).
