Barely a month later, on Monday, September 13th, he drowned when he went swimming in a pool on the University campus.

News of his passing has shocked those who knew him, throwing social media into mourning.

Gafaru completed the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2020 with first-class honours.

Unfortunately after landing his dream to study abroad, his life has been cut short.May he rest in peace.

Gafarus death comes in eerily similar fashion to another Ghanaian who died in the U.S this year.

A Ghanaian engineer in the United States, Andrew Amuna, died via drowning in a truly shocking turn of events back in July.

Reports say he was fishing with a friend in the Snake River in Washington state when he somehow fell overboard and drowned.

Amuna had completed his masters in electrical engineering and had reportedly been a valedictorian and two-time commencement speaker at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.
