Ghana Police Service Nationwide Recruitment

The Ghana Police Service has officially announced a nationwide recruitment drive, opening opportunities for qualified Ghanaians to join the force in various professional and technical fields. This large-scale recruitment aims to strengthen the service’s operational capacity, enhance public safety, and promote effective law enforcement across the country. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply through the official Ghana Police recruitment portal and ensure they meet all eligibility requirements before submission.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

All Applicants shall satisfy these requirements in addition to the specific requirement for a specific category. An Applicant must:

be a Ghanaian by birth;
be of good character;
be without criminal records;
not have been dismissed from any public service or any other employment;
not be more than the age stated for a specific category by 1/11/2025
be at least 5 feet 8 inches (173cm) tall for males and 5 feet 4 inches (163cm) for females;
be physically and medically fit by Ghana Police Service standards;
have 5 passes in BECE including English and Mathematics;
be ready to undergo basic Police training and other forms of training:
have completed National Service for graduate applicants.

CATEGORIES OF ENTRY:

GENERAL DUTY RECRUITS:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant;

must not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 30 years by 1/11/2025.
must possess a minimum of five passes in SSSCE/WASSCE including Mathematics and English.

TRADESMEN RECRUITS:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant who applies to this category must satisfy the requirements stated under the specific sub-category:

MOTOR VEHICLE MECHANICS;

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025 and must possess any of the following:
GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Automobile Engineering;
GES Intermediate Certificate in Vehicle Mechanic;
City & Guilds Certificate in Mechanical Engineering;
City & Guilds in Intermediate (Internal Combustion Engines and Motor Vehicle)
NVTI Proficiency Certificate I or Certificate II

DRIVERS/RIDERS:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must either possess five (5) passes in SSSCE/WASSCE or

GES (COTVET)

Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
City & Guilds Certificate in any Technical or Vocational Programme or GES/NACVET/GSS in any Technical or Vocational Programme and
must possess Drivers’ License ‘B’ or above which should not be less than two (2) years old.
Must possess Riders’ License ‘A’ which should not be less than two (2) years old.

ELECTRICIANS:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
Must possess either GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Electrical Installation in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
GES Intermediate Certificate in Electrical Installation in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
City and Guilds Certificate in Electrical Engineering in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
Electrical Engineering Technology Part I (GES) in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
NVTI Proficiency II or Certificate I or Certificate II in any Technical or Vocational Programme.

PLUMBERS & MASONS:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
Must possess either GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Plumbing and Masonry or
GES Intermediate Certificate in Plumbing/Masonry in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
City and Guilds Certificate in Plumbing/Masonry in any Technical or Vocational Programme or
NVTI Proficiency II or Certificate I or Certificate II in Plumbing/Masonry in any Technical or Vocational Programmes.

PAINTING/SIGN WRITING:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
Construction in any Technical or Vocational Programme

WELDER & STEEL BENDER:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
Must posses either GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Welding and Fabrication or
GES Intermediate Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Technology in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
NVTI Proficiency II or Certificate I or Certificate II in Welding and Fabrication in any Technical or Vocational Programme.

REFRIGERATION:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
Must posses either GES (COTVET) Certificate I or Certificate II or National Proficiency I or II Certificates in Refrigeration or
GES Intermediate Certificate in Refrigeration in any Technical or Vocational Programme.
NVTI Proficiency II or Certificate I or Certificate II in Refrigeration any Technical or Vocational Programme.

SPORTSMEN:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant,

must not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 30 years by 1/11/2025.
proven track record in recognized sports discipline.
be proficient in any of the following field
Boxing
Football
Handball
Basketball
Hockey
Tennis
Table tennis
Volleyball
Athletics (Track & Field)
Badminton
Arm Wrestling
Martial Art
Meet Ghana Police Service physical standards.
Pass full medical examination.
exhibit discipline, good character and team spirit.
pass sports specific trials during recruitment.
shortlisted players or professionals will undergo justification in their respective sports disciplines
applicants affiliated with clubs and actively participate in recognized sports association leagues shall have an added advantage during the selection process.

BAND:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must possess five (5) passes in SSSCE/ WASSCE
must have any of the following:
ability to play woodwind or Brass instruments.
ability to sight-read musical notes.
Proficiency in basic music (ABRSM) Theory Grade 4 will be an added advantage.

GRADUATES (GENERAL DUTY):

Degree Holders:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (at least Second Class Lower Division) from any recognized university

HND/Holders:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant

must not be more than 32 years by 1/11/2025
must hold HND in any field of study from a recognized Technical University or any Tertiary Institution accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

Diploma Holders:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant

must not be more than 32 years by 1/11/2025.
must hold a Diploma in any field of study from a recognized Technical University or any Tertiary Institution accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS

MEDICAL DOCTORS:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent in addition to a permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council
must have at least one (1) year post qualification working experience in a recognized health facility

MEDICAL SPECIALIST:

An applicant must not be more than 40 years by 1/11/2025.
Must be a member of the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana;
must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from a recognized College; plus, a relevant Post Graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons (GCPS/WACS/WACP) in addition to at least two (2) years post qualification experience in any of the following professions;
General Surgeons;
Obstetrics/Gynecologists;
Physician Specialist;
Ophthalmology;
Ear Nose and Throat;
Doctor Anesthetist.
Orthopedic Surgeon
Psychiatrist
Plastic Surgeon
Dental Surgeon
Emergency Physician Specialists
Radiologist
Pediatrician

PHARMACIST:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must possess a minimum of Bachelor of Pharmacy Degree (BPharm) (at least Second-class Lower Division) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Master in Pharmacy (MPharm) from a university accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board,
be registered with the Pharmacy Council and the Pharmaceutical
Society of Ghana with at least one (1) year post National Service working experience as a pharmacist.
Must be a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana.

NURSING SERVICES:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant

must not be more than 32 years for HND/Certificate holders and 35 years for degree holders by 1/11/2025.
must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council
must possess at least a Degree, Diploma or Certificate in the relevant area of Nursing listed below;
ENT Nurses;
Intensive Care Nurses;
Nurse Anesthetists;
Ophthalmic Nurses;
Orthopaedic Nurses;
Psychiatric Nurses;
Public Health Nurses;
Theatre Nurses (Peri-operative)
Midwives
Registered General Nurses
Certificate Nurses
Community Health Nurses
Nurse Assistants Clinical
Nurse Assistants preventive
Must have passed the requisite licensure exams.

SPECIALIZED NURSING:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must be a Registered General Nurse.
must have a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Nursing (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from an accredited University and a qualification in any of the speciality listed below with at least two (2) years post qualification experience:
Critical Care;
ENT;
Peri-Operative;
Emergency Care;
Pediatrics;
Ophthalmic Nursing

MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTISTS:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant,

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have Bsc in HND/Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT:

In addition to the general requirements,

an applicant must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have a Bsc. Physician Assistantship (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from an accredited University and two (2) years post qualification experience.
must have permanently registrated with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council.

CERTIFIED REGISTERED ANAESTHETISTS:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have Bsc or Advance Diploma in Anesthesia.

HEALTH INFORMATICS:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant

Must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have a degree, HND or Diploma in health Statistics

CLINICAL NUTRITIONIST/DIETICIANS:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have Bsc. in Nutrition (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from a university accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board, with at least one (1) year post National Service working experience as a nutritionist in a recognised health facility.

PHYSIOTHERAPIST:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have MSc. Physiotherapy from a university accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board, with at least one (1) year post National Service working experience as a Physiotherapist in a recognised health facility.

PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICERS:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have Bsc. Environmental Science or Bsc. Public Health (Environmental Health or Disease Control Option) (at least Second-Class Lower Division) from a University accredited by the Ghana Accreditation Board.
must have one (1) year post National Service working experience as a Public Health Officer in a recognised health facility.

BMS/HISTO TECHNOLOGIST:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant;

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have Bsc in Histopathology with Histo-Technology background.

PHARMACY TECHNOLOGISTS:

In addition to the general requirements, an applicant

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have SSSCE/WASSCE together with HND in Pharmacy Technology from a recognized institution plus two (2) years post-qualification experience..

SONOGRAPHERS:

In addition to the general requirements an applicant

must not be more than 35 years by 1/11/2025.
must have Bsc in Sonography.

RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS

ORDAINED MINISTER OR CHAPLAIN

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must:

must not be more than 40 years by 1/11/2025
Have at least a first degree in Theology.
Be of good standing in a Christian denomination approved by any of the following bodies; the Ghana Catholic Secretariat, the Christian Council of Ghana, the Pentecostal Council of Ghana or other recognized Christian Bodies.

IMAM

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must: must not be more than 40 years by 1/11/2025

Have at least a first degree in Islamic Studies with excellent Knowledge in Arabic.
Be of good standing in a Muslim denomination approved by any of the following bodies: the office of the National/ Regional Chief Imam, the office of the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission or other similar nationally recognized Muslim bodies.

HOW TO APPLY

The Ministry of the Interior wishes to inform the public that from 15th November to 15th December 2025, applications will be received for recruitment into the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Immigration Service.

This nationwide recruitment exercise forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Ghana’s internal security architecture, enhance public safety, and promote effective service delivery across all security agencies. The Ministry, therefore, invites suitably qualified, disciplined, and patriotic Ghanaian citizens who desire to serve the nation with integrity, professionalism, and dedication to submit their applications within the stated period.
