Please be aware that NOC 2021, the 2021 revision of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system, has been adopted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
The date of this update is November 16, 2022. Regardless of the date of the invitation to apply, all applications received by our office as of November 16, 2022, will be evaluated using this revised classification scheme.
Please be aware that with the adoption of this new system, some vocations have been moved into different categories. It is the duty of applicants to make sure they still fit the requirements of the program they wish to apply for.
If you are employed full-time in PEI, you can apply for a nomination for permanent residence under the Critical Worker stream of the PEI Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP). Employers can fill intermediate-skilled positions that are difficult to fill on the Island through the PEI Critical Worker stream, which is employer-driven.
Who is qualified?
For the PEI Critical Worker Stream, you must meet the following requirements:
- have a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from a PEI business for an intermediate skilled position, which is classified as TEER category 4 or 5 (link is external) by the Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibility categorization system;
- have worked for the PEI employer for at least six months full-time;
- have a work visa that is valid and legal status in Canada;
- have at least a secondary school certificate;
- be between the ages of 18 and 59;
- Have completed a language test from an IRCC-approved testing center within the last two years with a minimum score of CLB/NCLC 4,
- have enough money to cover all immigration costs (including travel expenses) for you and your family to be able to settle in PEI, and show a sincere desire to do so.
- have at least two years of full-time work experience or relevant education in the past five years.
Employee Changes in the Trucking Industry:
With effect from August 19, 2021, any applicants who are currently nominated or who submit applications under any Provincial Immigration program covered by NOC 73300 must possess a work offer from an authorized PEI employer and at least 12 months of experience driving long-distance trucks. WHERE TO APPLY?
If you match the prerequisites outlined above, you must first read the Workforce Application Guide before setting up a profile in the Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest system on your own behalf or through a representative.
You will be required to enter a working email address as well as personal data from your passport in order to create a profile. You can proceed to finish your profile after your account has been authenticated. There can only be one active profile per applicant at any given time.
For a period of six months, your profile will be live. You need to make sure the data you include in your profile is true and verifiable. Prior to receiving an invitation to apply, you may amend your profile if your circumstances change.

After receiving an invitation to apply, if your circumstances change, you must let the office know right once because it can affect the final decision made regarding your case. The Workforce Application Guide contains more details about the EOI points grid.
A notification email with your file number and instructions for submitting your file will be sent to you if you are selected to apply. You must fill out the application forms if you receive an invitation to apply. The employer forms must be completed by your employer as well.
An expression of interest, which is different from an application, expresses your desire to have your application for the PEI Workforce Category taken into consideration. The Office has the authority to impose admission restrictions or to exclude applicants from Expressions of Interest drawings.

Is there a cost involved?
The creation of an expression of interest profile is free. A non-refundable fee of $300 CAD is required if PEI chooses to nominate you. Mastercard, Visa, Mastercard Debit, and Visa Debit are all accepted. When submitting the Workforce Application Form, payment will be requested. Only applications with approved transactions will be considered.

Do You need to hire a lawyer or an immigration consultant?
In order to participate in any immigration program to Canada, you are not obliged to engage an immigration counselor.
If you decide to hire an immigration consultant or attorney, they must be licensed by a provincial bar association or registered with the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council, respectively. Before submitting an application through this stream, the agent must be registered with the Office of Immigration.

After You are nominated, what happens?
You must submit your Application for Permanent Residency to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (link is external) together with your nomination certificate after being nominated.
The IRCC will then evaluate your application for reasons affecting admissibility. On the IRCC website (external link), you may view processing times.
You must tell the Office of Immigration right away if your circumstances change, including family status, work, contact information, etc.
Up until you are granted status as a Permanent Resident, you are required to work for just one company. After nomination, you must contact the Office of Immigration and IRCC right away if there are any changes.
