This news was verified by German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who also emphasized the government’s goal of cutting down on the roughly 400,000 applicants who are currently waiting for a visa. She further mentioned that the Federal Agency for Foreign Affairs is currently the biggest visa office in the world for obtaining national visas.

Surge in Visa Approvals

Between January and June 2024, Germany issued 80,000 job visas, with skilled workers being the main recipients, according to the Federal Foreign Office. Among these, 40,000 skilled workers were given national visas, which is an increase of 3,000 over the first half of 2023.
