Free training for refugees and persons living in host communities as Health workers

In response to the acute shortages of health workers globally and the growing unemployment among the youth, including refugees and people forced to flee their homes to Ghana, the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) UK, is seeking to train refugees and persons living in host refugee communities as Community Health workers, Nurses and paramedics to serve the refugee and displaced persons communities, outside the formal camps.

This is part of the DHSC’s Building the Future International Workforce Programme which funding the UK Health Minister announced on Friday 22 October 2021.

Through this Programme, CHAG is seeking twenty (20) refugees and individuals living in host refugee communities who hold sufficient entry level qualifications to Nursing, Midwifery, Community Health Nursing, Enrolled Nursing, Disease Control, Health Promotion and Field Technician to provide scholarships for training.

The scholarship will cover tuition, boarding and lodging, transportation, examination, licensing and other school related costs for the entire duration of the Programme.

WHO QUALIFIES TO APPLY?

Refugees (as defined by the laws of Ghana) who have relevant entry requirements (SSCE / WASSCE) to enter any of the Health Training Institutions in Ghana

Individuals living in host refugee communities (Fetentaa, Drobo, Budumburam, Ampain, Krishan, Esiamah, Egyeikrom and environs) who have relevant entry requirements (SSCE / WASSCE) to enter any of the Health Training Institutions in Ghana

Willingness to pursue high education in any of the nursing related areas (General Nursing, Midwifery, Community Health Nursing, Enrolled Nursing, Disease Control, Health Promotion and Field Technician)

Age limit: 18-32 years

Medically, psychologically, and emotionally fit to pursue higher education

Has NOT opted for voluntary repatriation in 2021

Refugees who are already enrolled in Nursing, Midwifery and other related areas may also apply
