There are numerous countries across the globe that are offering free health care to residents of their country irrespective of tribe, employment status, or gender.
Difference between free health care and universal health care?
Free healthcare refers to Healthcare that is not paid at the point of treatment. Although it is said to be free, residents and citizens pay taxes to the government of the country, and they in turn also pay for the medical expenses of those that visit the health centers. Hence, there is actually no free medical cost as it appears.
Universal health care
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), universal health care refers to having equal access to quality health care that improves the health of patients without causing a financial strain on them. With this health care, one is required to have insurance that will cover their health. It could be through your employer or you make your own monthly contributions. For those who cannot afford to purchase a policy, the government will provide some assistance.
COUNTRIES THAT OFFER FREE HEALTH CARE
There are numerous countries that offer some form of universal health care, however, how it is implemented is different from one country to the other
1 . To begin with, UK HEALTH SYSTEM
The UK provides free health care through the National Health Service to its citizens and those that are permanently staying in the country. The National Health Service is sponsored through the taxes paid by the people.
Also, the UK provides people with private health care if they would prefer that. Over time, there have been many private organizations that have joined in offering the best health care to those who find themselves there. The government is the sole financier of these services although, in terms of delivery, it has been a public-private partnership.
2 . Secondly, GERMAN HEALTH SYSTEM
Germany offers one of the best health systems in the world. There are many options to choose from when it comes to health care. The public health care of this country is based on a principle of solidarity. This means that everyone that has been insured by a public insurance company will receive the same medical attention irrespective of their financial status.
3 . Also, ITALY HEALTH SYSTEM
Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (SSN), is the national Health service in Italy, Â this service provides citizens and residents with free or less expensive health care which includes having access to a doctor, receiving treatment at any public health center, and having access to ambulance service.
4 . Last but not least, FRANCE HEALTH SYSTEM
France offers universal health coverage to all its citizens and residents irrespective of their financial background. The French health care is a network of both the private and public services including access to doctors or specialists
5 . Finally, NORWAY HEALTH SYSTEM
Norway offers universal health coverage to its citizens and it is primarily sponsored by the taxes paid by the people. Also, there is a contribution by employers to their employees. Services offered include primary, ambulance service, mental health, and hospital care, as well as some outpatient prescription drugs.
