About Role

The Fire Safety Advisor will act as a subject matter expert responsible for guiding fire safety management across the university. The role combines strategic policy development with operational oversight, including conducting fire risk assessments, supporting building projects, and delivering fire safety training. The advisor will play a central role in promoting a proactive fire safety culture across campus while ensuring that complex facilities, including high-rise buildings and residential accommodation, maintain strong compliance and risk mitigation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the university’s competent person for fire safety and primary contact for fire safety advice
  • Develop and implement the institution’s Fire Safety Management System
  • Conduct fire risk assessments and support departments in resolving identified risks
  • Provide expert guidance on fire safety in new building developments and refurbishment projects
  • Carry out fire safety audits to monitor compliance and identify improvement opportunities

Requirements
