Find a place in your heart to forgive me – NDC’s Brogya Genfi publicly apologizes to Ken Ofori-Atta

March 29th, 2021 at 01:46 pm

A former Ashanti Regional Youth  organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress Brogya Genfi has publicly apologised to Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta for among others dragging him to court, to CHRAJ and other moves he now says were needless.

In a rather sarcastic post to spite the NDC minority in parliament for the consensus approval of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Brogya Genfi said he now believes Mr. Ofori-Atta has been an innocent man all along.

The report of the Appointments Committee in which NDC has an equal representation was laid on Saturday (March 27) and recommended approval of the Minister.

This appears to have hurt Brogya Genfi.

During his (Mr. Ofori-Atta’s) vetting which lasted for two straight days, Ken Ofori-Atta answered a barrage of questions on the Ghanaian economy and the controversial Agyapa deal. NDC footsoldiers had expectations that he will not approved with their MPs’ number included but that hope has been dashed.

Ken Ofori-Atta during his vetting defended the Agyapa deal and said it was structured in accordance to the law.

Quoting from section three (3) of the Minerals Income and Investment Act as amended today the 25th of March 2021 when he took his turn for vetting before Parliament’s Appointment Committee, Ken Ofori-Atta, noted that government through the Finance ministry has stayed within the confines of the Act at every stage of efforts to establish Agyapa as a “Special Purpose Vehicle” for purposes of monetizing the country’s gold reserves by targeting both the London and Ghana Stock Exchanges.

It will also be recalled in April 2017, CHRAJ commenced the investigations against the Finance Minister after Mr Brogya Genfi, petitioned it to probe Ken Ofori-Atta’s position in the issuance of a government bond.

According to Mr Genfi, Ken Ofori-Atta secured 95 percent of the bond for his family and friends.

Today however, Mr. Brogya says “time has proven I was either chasing non-existent crimes or misinterpreted the issues. Kindly find a place in your heart to forgive. I’m really sorry.” He wrote.

He expressed surprise that wherever Ken Ofori-Atta is taken, he is exonerated which could mean there is nothing negative about him.

His apology began:

Dear Ken,

I want to apologise to you on all issues I picked on you in the past. What is it with you, that the courts exonerate you, the executive arm praises you and Parliament of Ghana approves you with a bipartisan support?
