Financial Controller at Dangote Global Services Ltd
Key Responsibilities
In the Dangote office, the Financial Controller is in charge of the work and results for financial accounting and reporting, as well as financial control.
This includes things like corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, making budgets and forecasts, and coming up with policies and procedures for internal control.
The Financial Controller is in charge of the day-to-day work of the finance and accounting staff.
Jobs to be done
- watch over all of the company’s finances and investments.
- Make a budget and monthly accounts for management
- Keep accurate books and records so you can see results, trends, and financial predictions.
- Make monthly P&L accounts and use them to manage how well the business is doing.
- Handle bank accounts and the flow of money
- Make sure that ledgers are updated on time and looked over once a month.
- Make sure all financial transactions, like paying vendors, are recorded, filed, and reported correctly.
- Make sure payments for freight are made on time and after proper checks.
- Make sure the prices on the PFI and invoices are correct and avoid exchange losses.
- Prepare financial accounts for Audit and work together to make sure all rules are followed correctly.
- Then, Keep track of employees’ office visits, time at work, and vacations.
- Check the balances between companies once a month.
- Arrange Salary payments
- Lastly, Set up systems to keep track of how much equipment and spare parts you buy, sell, and ship.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in a related field; experience in accounting in the UK is a must.
- Must have experience setting up systems to keep track of purchases, sales, spare parts, and equipment.
- It is important to have experience managing and writing up shipping documents under the LCs (letter of credit).
- It’s good to be a Certified Accountant, Cost and Management Accountant.
- Accountancy experience in the UK is needed.
- A key requirement is experience in a setting where spare parts are found and shipped.
- Working with Sage accounting software is a plus.
- A key requirement is experience in international import/export business and trade finance.
- Strong understanding of how to run a business. Finance, Governance, and trends in the industry.
Skills and knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree or M.Sc. in accounting, finance, economics, business administration, or something similar.
- Excellent skills in presenting, communicating, negotiating, planning, budgeting, organizing, and leading.
- Good at managing, leading, and getting along with people.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Knowing how to use the tools in Microsoft Office, the SAGE accounting package, or a well-known ERP in real life.
- Know all the relevant laws and policies about financial management and corporate governance.
- Strong business and financial sense and knowledge of the product.
- Having a high level of personal integrity and paying close attention to every detail is important.
