Financial Accountant at Totalenergies
COMPANY PROFILE
Totalenergies Marketing Ghana is a part of the worldwide Totalenergies Group, which is one of the largest oil and gas companies with a wide range of services. In Ghana, the company has been a big part of the oil marketing business for over sixty years. It has a large retail network and does business in many different areas, including Petroleum Products, Lubricants, Aviation, Bitumen, and Solar.
What the job entails
HSEQ
- Follow all of the “Twelve Golden Rules” about safety.
Making a Financial Statement
- Responsible for putting together and filing quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements according to IFRS and local rules (Securities and Exchange Commission & Ghana Stock Exchange regulations)
- Responsible for making both audited and unaudited consolidated financial statements every year.
- Responsible for putting together and publishing the Total Group Consolidation Accounting Package every three months (CAP)
Taxation
- Makes sure the company’s VAT, including VAT on services brought in from other countries, is filed and paid on time.
- Makes sure that all suppliers’ taxes are filed and paid on time.
- Makes sure that corporate income taxes are filed and paid on time every three months.
- Checks the tax checklist and makes sure that all other taxes, such as CEPS, NPA, SSF, PAYE, etc., are paid on time.
- Reconciles and settles differences on all tax accounts to make sure what is paid is in line with SAP.
Account Review and Coding of Postings
- Makes sure that all expenses are put in the right accounts.
- Check all accounts for expenses to make sure that the entries are made in the right accounts.
- Review all Class 4 accounts, making sure that all accounts that can be matched are matched and that long-standing balances are looked into and taken care of.
- Activities for the end of the month
At the end of each month, the financial accountant does the following.
- Prepare and post the technical services accruals
- Amortize prepaid expenses
- Write back other income that was put off.
- Match and look over all documents that keep coming up.
- Work with the budgeting and reporting analyst to look over all expenses, compare them to the budget, and look into any big differences.
- Do any other legal and reasonable jobs that the boss gives you from time to time.
Context and environment
Total works all over the country. So, it’s important to make sure that costs and income are accurately recorded or that plans are made so that profit can be accurately calculated. It is also important to make sure that all of the changes to the country’s tax laws are followed.
Candidate profile
- A good first degree from a recognized university, preferably in accounting;
- Then, being a fully qualified member of a recognized professional accounting body;
- having good communication and analysis skills;
- being a good team player; knowing finance and accounting and having at least five years of experience after getting the degree;
- having good audit experience from a reputable organization;
- being able to show how International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) are used in real life, and being able to show how IFRS is used in real life (SEC)
- Good knowledge of the local tax law;
- Lastly, Experience with the SAP accounting module.
