Overview

Savana Signatures is a Ghanaian For-Impact NGO that is a leader in the innovative use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to design and deliver inclusive, scalable social interventions in the areas of Inclusive Quality Education, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Livelihood and Economic Development.

We are experts at planning and carrying out interventions for community development, with a focus on effective youth participation. Our goal is to bring about positive change among girls, women, young people, and the most vulnerable people in Ghana by coming up with new ways to help them get a good education and improve their skills.

Job Description

Savana Signatures wants a qualified candidate for the position of Finance and Operations Director for an upcoming Ghana Youth Activity. The goal of the activity is to help young people in northern Ghana get ahead in terms of their social and economic lives.

Responsibilities will include monitoring projects finances, preparing project budgets, managing financial reporting to a funder, ensuring adherence to funder rules and regulations, coordinating with Savana Signatures head office on financial information, providing financial technical assistance to project teams, by acting as a resource for project staff on finance-related issues.

Location: The office for this job will be in Tamale, Ghana.

Funding and the approval of key personnel are needed for the job to be open.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the COP in day-to-day program management.
  • Establish financial and operational processes during start-up.
  • Supervise Finance and Operations team.
  • Ensure all activities linked to financial management are carried out in conformance with policies and procedures established by Savana Signatures and the funder.
  • Oversee all payments and track all costs spent under the award.
  • Monitor program budget and advise top management on burn rates and other programmatic considerations.
  • Maintain financial records for all program activities and ensure that proper financial record-keeping policies and practices are established and maintained.
  • Overseeing subgrantee budgets and expenses
  • Oversee all office expenses and staff transportation/vehicles; lead human resource management;
  • Oversees and ensures compliant pre-award audit of sub-awardees.
  • Oversee and ensure quality financial processes throughout the project.
  • Oversee the management and reporting of cost share and ensure that Savana Signatures gets the results it is responsible for under the donor agreement.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • MBA/MS or a related advanced Degree in Accounting, Finance with a minimum of 8 years experience in financial management and administration, ideally in a multi-partner context.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing donor money.
  • Strong working understanding of USAID financial management policies, procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with an accounting system and high-degree of skill in MS Excel and other accounting packages.
  • Demonstrated skill in supervision and managing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in English needed and proficiency in another language an added benefit.
