Role Title: FINANCE & ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR/MANAGER (FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Job Overview

A reputable IT infrastructure firm is looking for a highly-skilled, hands-on, and technically capable Supervisor in the Finance & Accounting department for a fixed-term contract that is renewable based on acceptable performance. The ideal applicant will have substantial experience in finance management, good analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of accounting software, particularly Sage.

This position demands a proactive, self-motivated individual who can manage themselves successfully and has a solid background in technical accounting, including IFRS and tax regulations, in a project accounting-based setting. In addition, the candidate must be knowledgeable about advanced Microsoft Excel as well as regulatory and statutory compliance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Financial Operations: Direct and manage the company’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Accounting Software: Use Sage’s advanced capabilities to optimize financial operations, improve data accuracy, and support project accounting, inventory valuation, and foreign exchange transactions (payables and receivables).
  • Financial Controls: Establish and maintain strong financial controls and systems to ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Financial analysis is examining financial data to detect patterns, variations, and potential for cost reductions and efficiency gains. Analyze actual budget variances every month.
  • Financial Statements: Oversee the creation and delivery of financial statements, management reports, and board presentations.
  • IFRS: Ensure compliance with IFRS, especially in the IT infrastructure industry.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure that all applicable tax laws, regulations, and statutes are followed.
  • Month-End Close: Oversee the month-end close procedures, ensuring that activities are completed on time and accurately, including balance sheet reconciliation. Ensure that the month-end bundle is submitted no later than four working days following the end of the month.
  • Project Accounting: Oversee financial aspects of project accounting, including proper tracking and reporting of project expenditures and revenue.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a group of finance professionals while cultivating a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Self-Management: Maintain a high level of self-management and drive to help the organization meet its financial goals.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline; ACCA, CA, CIMA, or similar professional accounting certification.
  • Experience: At least four years of supervisory experience in accounting and finance management, with a focus on technical and analytical skills.
  • Software Proficiency: Expertise in Sage accounting software, including a thorough understanding of its sophisticated features and functions.
  • Month-End Close Experience: Have extensive experience with month-end close procedures, balance sheet reconciliation, and management report writing.
  • Project Accounting: Extensive experience managing financial aspects of project accounting.
  • IFRS Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of IFRS, particularly in the IT infrastructure industry.
  • Tax Compliance: Thorough understanding of tax rules, regulations, and statutory compliance.
  • Excel Skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including complicated functions and data analysis.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a finance team in a dynamic, fast-paced workplace.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Industry Experience: Worked in the IT infrastructure or similar industries.
  • Additional Software: Experience with other accounting and financial management systems.
  • ERP Systems: Understanding ERP systems and how they integrate with accounting software.
  • Project Management: Proficient project management abilities and expertise with process improvement efforts.
