Job Title: Specialist – Local Resource Moblisation

The purpose of the job:

This job is in the Resource Acquisition and Management unit. Its main focus is on developing resources and building relationships with donors and partners. The purpose of the position is to keep and grow relationships with corporate and individual donors.

Important parts of your job

For this job to be done well, you need to have strong analytical, report-writing, negotiating, communication, and relationship-building skills. The person in this job will work with the Resource Acquisition and Management team to find local ways to raise money and make partnerships that will help World Vision Ghana’s overall efforts to raise money and make partnerships.

In addition to trying to raise money locally, the person in this position will initiate and coordinate the establishment and development of relationships with state structures, international organizations, civil society organizations, and private sector structures on an equal footing within a formal framework, mutually agreed collaborations with shared goals and responsibilities that would allow World Vision Ghana to:

Promote the values of WVG, understand its own barriers and catalysts as well as those of its partners, learn from others, and work together to come up with appropriate indigenous solutions to reduce inequality in favor of children.

Works within a solicitation plan to build new relationships and keep the ones they already have going strong. This is done through a series of personal visits, meetings, events, and stewardship practices.

Help get money from corporations, foundations, and trusts and build the staff’s skills so that they can advocate for children’s rights and do other things to change things;

Get the money needed to put projects and programs into action. Make sure that interventions last and that successes are built on.

Major Responsibilities:

Strategic Management of local Fundraising and partnerships

  • Local fundraising and partnerships need to be managed strategically.
  • Start the process of making WV Ghana’s policy, plans, and guidelines for local resource mobilization and partnerships, and make sure they are updated regularly.
  • Look for opportunities to get money from corporate and other donors that fit with WV Ghana’s strategy and abilities.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional teams to make proposals with clear goals and deadlines.
  • Plan for and write proposals with a high chance of winning
  • Make sure that data is easily accessible for each country’s program priorities so that proposals and concept notes can be made with ease.
  • Help put together and review budgets for local grant proposals.
  • Keeps an eye on how local grants are used in the field.

Building up relationships

  • Make a plan for gathering local resources within WV Ghana.
  • Keeps a list of all possible donors in order to raise money locally.
  • Regularly meet with current and potential corporate partners, brief them, and give them updates in a formal and informal way.
  • Make presentations to corporate partners, donors, and others to share what you’ve learned, promote best practices, coordinate programming, and build alliances and funding opportunities.
  • Represent WV Ghana in different places where Management tells you to.
  • Research and keep an eye on the strategies, funding, and regulatory changes of corporate partners and donors. Management

Relationship management with local donors:

  • Make sure deadlines for local donors are met on time and that all of their questions are answered well.
  • Review the reports that are due from local donors and make sure that the reports meet the reporting needs of the donors as stated in the agreements. Suggest actions to the Manager.

Management of Partnerships:

  • Coordinate the creation of partnership agreements and financing agreements. Coordinate, with the help of relevant technical teams, the assessment of partner institutions’ institutional and operational capacity and their plan for building capacity.
  • Getting donations and running projects
  • Help Project Managers understand and follow Corporate and donor regulations and compliance requirements by making sure project start-up and close-up processes are complete, detailed, and inclusive.

Building up abilities

  • Help program staff get the resources they need from local donors and learn how to manage them.
  • Monitoring and help on the ground
  • Facilitate field-level review meetings, visit project sites with the local donor team, and help project implementation teams as needed.
