Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide limited skills, integrity and knowledge in key areas of discipline engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements and current good engineering practice.
  • Understands clients’ needs; identifies and addresses design parameters and problems; develops and implements solutions.
  • Generally, under direct supervision, be responsible for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to DO, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions.
  • Originate or check technical documentation, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Be aware of relevant safety objectives, legislative and legal requirements.
  • Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API, DNV, AISC); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work.
  • Be involved in meetings / correspondence with Clients, subcontractors, 3rd parties, etc. in a technical capacity.
  • Assist / guide more junior engineers / graduates as appropriate.
  • Recognise and accept HSE Roles & Responsibilities as defined in company HSE Standards.

  • Ability to function within a design team and across multiple projects.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, manage time accordingly and inform senior team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Manage interfaces within a project structure, including other disciplines, drawing office, document control, project management, client and suppliers.
  • Manage change control within own remit on a project.  Inform team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of programme or budget.
  • Can work within time/budget constraints

Discipline-specific Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to planning, detailing and reviewing of technical documentation relating to subsea structures’ construction and installation.
  • Undertake analysis, design and engineering activities associated with subsea construction and installation.
  • Provide structural stability and integrity calculations for steel frame structures, pipelines, spool pieces, tie ins, risers and umbilicals.  Design to resist forces for in-service, installation and transportation load conditions.  Determination of size, shape, strength, and type of structural members.
  • Design and detailing in accordance with acknowledged industry Codes, Standards and Design Guides (e.g. API, DNV, AISC); Client Specifications and Scopes of Work.
  • Assist in producing design documentation including feasibility reports, detailed design reports, construction drawings, design specifications, material take-offs, weight control calculations, etc.
  • Be aware of associated subsea related disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project environment.
  • Provide engineering assistance during mobilisations and occasional periods of offshore or site working.
  • Provide technical engineering support to other departments within the Central Engineering Group, the Project Engineering Group, and to colleagues as required.
  • Develop a working knowledge of relevant structural analysis and design software
  • Be aware of activities associated with events such as Bid Clarifications, Kickoff meetings, HIRAs, Design Reviews, etc.

Requirments: 

  • Graduated with a Degree in Civil (Structural), Mechanics or Marine Engineering;
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in structural design related activities. Oil and Gas, Subsea equipment or Offshore Renewables knowledge are greatly appreciated;
  • Competency in design and analysis software packages for FEA (Abaqus, Ansys…) and Beam Elements (SACS, NSO/ISYMOST…) is essential;
  • Good knowledge of industry standards;
  • Good knowledge of design codes (AISC, API, ABS, BV, DNV, Eurocodes…)
