POSITION: Investment Analyst
GBfoods offers culinary solutions in Europe and Africa with prominent local brands such as Jumbo, Gallina Blanca, Erasco, Gino, Liebig, Star, Bama, D&L, Grand’Italia, and Blå Band, among others. GBfoods Africa operates in 24 countries, including a regional office in Accra, Ghana.

Role:
Report to the ImpactHub Director.
The Investment Analyst will be in charge of supporting GBHub Africa’s investment strategy by conducting extensive financial analysis, due diligence, and market research to identify and evaluate investment opportunities in startups and SMEs across Africa’s food systems, all while ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and investment criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
Deal Sourcing and Screening
- Identify and assess possible investment opportunities.
- Conduct initial vetting of investment ideas.
- Maintain the pipeline of potential investments.
Financial Analysis
- Conduct extensive financial analysis and modeling.
- Conduct valuation assessments.
- Prepare investment memoranda.
Due diligence
- Lead and coordinate the due diligence processes.
- Evaluate company models and market potential.
- Assess hazards and mitigation strategies.
Portfolio Management
- Monitor portfolio company performance.
- Prepare frequent portfolio reports.
- Support portfolio companies as needed.

Requirements
Technical Competencies
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related discipline is required; an MBA or CFA is preferred.
- At least three (3) years’ experience in investment analysis, venture capital, or private equity.
- Strong expertise in African food markets and startup ecosystems.
- Proven experience in financial modeling and valuation approaches.
- Experience with due diligence procedures, investment documents, market research, and value chain analysis.
- Knowledge of different investment products and transaction structures.
- Understanding ESG principles and impact investing.
- Expert knowledge of Excel and financial analysis tools
- A strong interest in the food systems value chain.
- Investment memorandum writing.
- Risk assessment, management, and portfolio tracking and reporting.
