POSITION: Ghana EGHS, Project Director
Job Summary
The job involves leading and managing the Global Health Security (GHS) project in Ghana. You will work with other team members to develop and improve the project’s strategies, tools, and activities. Your role includes finding and working with important partners to help the country prepare for and respond to health emergencies. You will oversee everything from the start to the end of the project, ensuring it finishes on time and within budget.
You will also select and evaluate team members to make sure the project runs smoothly. Additionally, you will connect with important organizations and donors for support and guidance. This job includes sharing what you learn from the project on global platforms. You’ll be responsible for writing quality reports for funders like FHI360. This position depends on the project being awarded to FHI360 and the availability of funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with country leadership and the project team to ensure everything goes as planned, checking performance against timelines and budgets.
- Design and monitor the project work plan.
- Write high-quality reports for donors and partners.
- Oversee technical activities and annual country work plans.
- Coordinate with global projects to share ideas and strategies.
- Guide the project team to follow organizational procedures and standards.
- Review plans and reports from partners for quality assurance.
- Gather success stories and lessons learned to share knowledge within the project.
- Help in the personal and professional development of team members through feedback and coaching.
- Write technical publications and ensure a safe, respectful work environment for everyone.
- Plan and direct project activities to meet goals on time and within budget.
- Review project proposals to determine the resources needed.
- Participate in international conferences to share project achievements and build knowledge networks.
- Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Ensure new project staff understand project goals and standards.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong knowledge of project management and health systems in Ghana.
- Excellent skills in managing projects, communicating, influencing others, and solving problems.
- Ability to work well with local communities, government officials, and international organizations.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically.
- Proven experience in managing complex projects and leading teams.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in health, social sciences, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Project management certification is preferred.
- At least 10 years of project management experience, including 5 years of leadership experience.
- Familiarity with Global Health Security and related areas like infection control is preferred.
- Must speak fluent English; knowledge of local Ghanaian languages is a plus.

Work Environment
- Typical office setting with long hours in front of a computer.
- Ability to sit, stand, and lift light objects (up to 5 lbs).
Technology Used: Must be proficient with computers and Microsoft applications like Office 365, SharePoint, and video conferencing tools.
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel may be required.
