Job Title: Curriculum Designer & Reading Tutor

About the role
The Curriculum Designer and Reading Tutor will make lesson plans and activities that teach children how to read using Jolly Phonics and Booksie’s own learning-to-read program. The goal is to get people to love reading and books by helping them become better readers.
Your job will be a fun mix of teaching preschoolers how to read and being a librarian.
Your role and responsibilities
- Make a program for learning to read by combining Jolly Phonics and Booksie’s program for learning to read.
- Make lesson plans based on what you are teaching. You and the other reading tutors will give these lessons.
- Make games and activities that teach reading
- Plan and make materials for teaching and learning
- Train tutors, interns, and volunteers to know the curriculum and how to teach it.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience teaching young children
- Getting trained and certified to teach jolly phonics
- The Montessori method is a plus.
- Good at writing and talking to people
- Must know how to use computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
- Great skills for doing research
- Must like to read.
- Like arts and crafts and do-it-yourself projects?
- Some knowledge of and experience with design software like Canva, Easil, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, etc.
- Must be self-starting, self-motivated, and very organized.
- Good familiarity with the Google suite (google docs, sheets, slides, etc)
- Must be imaginative and full of ideas!
