The Opportunity

We are hiring a proactive and technically skilled Data Annotation Team Lead. This is a pivotal leadership role where you will directly manage a team of annotators, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality data. You will act as the critical link between project requirements, operational execution, and your team’s performance. Success in this position requires equal parts technical troubleshooting, people management, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities

First, you will manage daily workflows by dynamically assigning tasks based on individual team strengths and urgent project deadlines.
You will monitor hourly production rates closely. A key duty is to identify underperforming team members early and implement structured Performance Improvement Plans.
Furthermore, you will enforce utilization standards by monitoring time-tracking software to ensure the team maintains a >90% active rate, investigating any discrepancies immediately.
Technically, you will translate complex client annotation guidelines into clear, actionable Standard Operating Procedures for your team.
Additionally, you will troubleshoot daily technical blockers, such as tool lag or access issues, to maintain seamless productivity.
You will lead the technical onboarding for new hires, ensuring they achieve tool proficiency within their first week.
Moreover, you will collaborate with Quality Assurance specialists to analyze error trends and conduct stand-up meetings to address common mistakes proactively.
A crucial aspect of your role involves proactive risk management, where you will flag potential deadline misses or project risks to the Operations Manager.
Finally, you will guide team growth through regular one-on-one coaching sessions and foster a culture of high performance and accountability.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

Must-Have Technical Proficiency:

Platform Knowledge: Hands-on proficiency with data annotation tools for troubleshooting and standard project management software like Jira, ClickUp, or Trello.
Data Literacy: Strong ability to interpret performance dashboards. You must analyze throughput spreadsheets and instantly pinpoint performance trends and bottlenecks.
Reporting: Proven experience drafting clear and actionable End-of-Day and End-of-Week production reports.
