About the Role

As a Digital Design Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in developing next-generation programmable coherent DSP solutions. The ideal candidate will be involved in designing complex communication systems from conception through to silicon delivery. Your expertise will help shape various aspects of digital design, working closely with teams across multiple disciplines, including algorithm development and verification.

Key Job Duties

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Collaboration: Work with Algorithm and Architecture teams to translate high-level requirements into hardware implementations.
  • Design: Implement RTL for complex digital blocks using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL.
  • Participation: Engage in all design stages, including micro-architecture definition and timing analysis.
  • Verification: Develop testbenches and debug issues to achieve functional coverage closure with the Verification teams.
  • DFT Partnership: Collaborate with DFT engineers to ensure designs support scan insertion, ATPG, and BIST.
  • Coordination: Work with Physical Design teams for optimal floor planning, timing closure, and routing.
  • Debugging: Analyze waveforms, assertions, and timing reports to perform pre- and post-silicon debugging.
  • Optimization: Focus on optimizing for performance, area, and power (PPA) through iterative improvements.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for design specifications and reviews.
  • Integration: Contribute to IP/SoC integration and system-level interface verification.
  • Industry Awareness: Stay updated on industry trends, EDA tools, and verification methodologies.

Job Requirements

To qualify for this position, candidates must have:

  • Experience: A minimum of five years as an ASIC/VLSI Digital Design Engineer.
  • Proficiency: Strong RTL coding skills in Verilog/SystemVerilog/VHDL.
  • Hands-On Skills: Experience with synthesis, timing analysis, and simulation environments.
  • DFT Concepts: A solid understanding of DFT principles such as scan insertion, ATPG, and BIST.
  • Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Availability: Must be able to work onsite in Austin, Texas, five days a week.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with optical communication systems and high-speed Ethernet (100G and above).
  • Background in DSP-oriented designs and system-level debugging.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Perl, or TCL.
