Denmark Tekniske Universitet Scholarship 2026
A premier doctoral opportunity is now available for researchers in computational and theoretical chemistry. Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) is accepting applications for its fully funded PhD Scholarship in Theoretical Chemical Dynamics, starting in 2026. This position offers the chance to conduct frontier research in attosecond to picosecond molecular dynamics within a leading European technical university.
An Exceptional Research and Funding Package
This scholarship provides comprehensive support designed to foster scientific innovation and career development. Key benefits include:
- Full Financial Support: A competitive three-year salary and full tuition coverage under Denmark’s collective academic agreement.
- Elite Research Environment: Direct supervision under Professor Klaus Braagaard Møller and integration into DTU’s renowned Physical Chemistry section.
- International Secondment: A funded research visit to a premier partner laboratory, such as those in Frankfurt or Oxford, providing global exposure.
- Strong Relocation Support: Assistance for moving to Denmark and joining DTU’s vibrant international PhD community.
Consequently, this program serves as a complete academic launchpad, combining financial security with world-class scientific training.
Ideal Candidate Profile
This position seeks a highly motivated candidate with a strong foundation in theoretical and computational sciences. You are an excellent fit if you meet the following criteria:
- Hold a two year Master’s degree (120 ECTS) or equivalent in theoretical chemistry, theoretical physics, or a closely related discipline.
- Possess a robust background in theoretical/computational chemistry or molecular physics.
- Demonstrate proven experience in electronic structure calculations, including excited states.
- Have working knowledge of advanced methods such as:
- Wave packet quantum dynamics (e.g., AIMS, MCTDH).
- Mixed quantum classical dynamics (e.g., SHARC).
- Open quantum systems approaches (e.g., Lindblad, Redfield, HEOM).
- Exhibit excellent analytical, mathematical, and programming skills.
- Are proficient in spoken and written English for academic communication.
- Can work independently and drive a complex research project to completion.
Application Process
Applications must be submitted online through DTU’s official recruitment platform. You will need to prepare a complete application package, which typically includes a motivation letter, a detailed CV, academic diplomas and transcripts, and contact information for professional references.
Critical Deadline
The deadline for submission is January 21, 2026. Complete applications must be received by January 22, 2026, at 23:59 Danish time.
