Deciding between Canada’s Express Entry and PNP Immigration Pathways
Canada, a popular immigration destination for foreign individuals, provides a number of immigration channels that allow for easy entry into the country. Individuals prefer Canada to other countries because of its high quality of life and abundance of professional and educational opportunities. Recently, Canada was classified as the second happiest G7 countries, making it an appealing option for many.
Individuals from all over the world desire to immigrate to Canada through the Express Entry system and Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs). These are regarded as IRCC’s most important immigration pathways for Canadian permanent citizens. Choosing between Express Entry and PNP Immigration Pathways might assist you in determining the optimal approach to Canadian immigration.
Notably, these two methods will invite 220,770 new immigrants out of the 485,000 that Canada wants to admit by 2024.
Deciding which immigration method is best for newcomers can be difficult because each has its own advantages.
Do you want to know if you should submit your profile through the Express Entry program or the Base PNP? Continue reading to gain a thorough understanding of both programs and make an informed selection.
Which is better for you: Express Entry or PNP Pathways?
The parts that follow will help you comprehend both main approaches and determine which is best for you.
Canada’s Express Entry System governs individual applications from overseas. It is one of the major economic immigration channels in Canada, accepting applications under three programs:
- FSWP, FSTP, and CEC are acronyms for Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, and Canadian Experience Class, respectively.
- Express Entry is predicted to be the most popular and favoured method for new immigrants by 2024. According to the immigration levels plan, Canada intends to admit 110,700 permanent residents this year through this channel.
All Express Entry programs have certain eligibility requirements, and candidates must meet at least one of these criteria before submitting their profile to the Express Entry pool.
When eligible applicants apply for any of these Express Entry programs, they are formerly known as Express Entry candidates with a profile in the Express Entry pool.
Following their inclusion in the pool, all applicants are assigned points based on a scoring mechanism known as the Comprehensive Ranking mechanism (CRS). It takes into account a variety of human capital elements, including job experience, qualifications, and other traits.
After receiving a score, candidates must wait for either a program-specific or a general Express Entry draw with a CRS score that is equivalent to their own. Following that, qualifying candidates with a minimum CRS score are issued an invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residency (PR).
Notably, following successful submission, the candidate’s Express Entry profile is valid for one year, and they can resubmit it after the validity period expires.
If a candidate receives an ITA through a draw, they become applicants. They now have 60 days after receiving an invitation to submit their final PR application to IRCC. If the application is approved by the IRCC, candidates will be granted Canadian PR, allowing them to permanently settle and remain in Canada.
Enhanced PNP streams for Express Entry
Canadian provinces can also invite Federal Express Entry pool candidates through the specific Provincial Nominee Program streams. This is referred to as Enhanced PNP streams. These Express Entry-aligned streams are distinct from the standard PNP streams operated by independent provincial nominee programs known as Base PNP.
Individuals must acquire an invitation from the Federal Express Entry pool before being nominated under the upgraded PNP. They may also be invited from the provincial/territorial pool to apply for enhanced PNP in their province or territory.
Candidates that secure a provincial nomination under the upgraded streams receive an additional 600 CRS points. This almost guarantees an invitation from the federal government.
Understanding Canada’s Base Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).
The base PNPs in Canada are managed by the provincial or territory governments, and the streams that fall under them are not coordinated with Express Entry.
Candidates must submit their applications for each stream individually because each stream has its own set of eligibility conditions.
The primary purpose of the Base PNPs was initially to provide assistance to local governments in their efforts to address problems regarding the labour market and demographics in their respective regions. They are able to select eligible individuals to settle in their territory in order to help and meet the needs of the community thanks to these PNPs.
Every province and territory in Canada, with the exception of Quebec and Nunavut, has its own immigration program. Several specialized immigration options are available in Quebec.
The eligibility requirements for each program or stream vary substantially by jurisdiction. Nonetheless, typical conditions include:
- Qualifications for a connection to a province include living, studying, or working there, as well as demonstrating the necessary human capital.
- Provincial nomination systems are Canada’s second-largest immigration gateway for new immigrants this year. These help to spread immigration benefits across the country.
- However, in the coming years, PNPs are likely to outperform all other immigration channels. This will help it become the primary pathway for admitting newcomers to the country.
From what I gathered, the Express Entry system and provincial immigration schemes in Canada were the primary topics of discussion. It is possible that selecting between Express Entry and the PNP road will assist you in determining which of the two options is the most advantageous and suitable for you.
