Responsibilities

Design scalable data architectures, including data lakes and lakehouse solutions
Define data models and produce high-level technical design documentation
Build and optimise complex batch and streaming data pipelines using PySpark, Scala, Delta Lake, and SQL
Lead and mentor data engineering teams, promoting best practices and technical excellence
Review, manage, and maintain high-quality, reliable, and compliant production code
Implement data governance, quality controls, security measures, and data lineage frameworks
Manage Databricks environments, clusters, and workflows across cloud platforms
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Git and Azure DevOps
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions

Requirements

Over 5 years of experience in data engineering and software engineering roles
Strong hands-on expertise with Databricks, including PySpark or Scala, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and SQL
Experience designing and delivering scalable data platforms on Azure or AWS
Proven ability to lead technical projects, mentor engineers, and manage stakeholders
Solid understanding of data modelling, data governance, and data quality practices
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in complex, matrix environments
