Crossroads International is a registered foundation that gets money from Global Affairs Canada (GAC), other government and non-government funders, and many people from all over the world.
Position Overview
Crossroads International is looking for a trustworthy driver to help its office with all tasks related to transportation. The Driver will work out of its office in Ghana. The Driver is a very important part of the Ghana Country Office. The person in this position will drive Crossroads vehicles and run errands in Accra and its Project areas, as well as go on all business trips. He or she will also be in charge of keeping the Crossroads vehicle in good shape and making sure it gets the care it needs. People are hired on a rolling basis.

Company Driver Responsibilities
- Drive the Crossroads vehicle carefully, making sure the passengers and vehicle are safe and following all national, state, and other laws that apply.
- Transporting company employees and different goods and materials to and from specific places in a safe way and on time.
- Helping the staff load and unload their bags, goods, and materials.
- Changing the way people move to avoid traffic jams or road construction.
- Making sure the work car is always parked in a place that allows it so it doesn’t get towed.
- Keeping the business car clean and in good shape by washing, cleaning, and maintaining it on a regular basis.
- letting management know about any crashes, injuries, or damage to vehicles.
- Make sure that riders follow the safety rules set by Crossroads and the laws of the area, especially when it comes to wearing seat belts.
- Keep the car logbook and maintenance record book up to date and give monthly reports on how the vehicles are used.
- Make sure that the Crossroads vehicle is well taken care of and that fixes are followed up on.
- Make sure that only original parts are used on cars. No part of the vehicle should be changed without the prior approval of the Country Manager.
- The old parts that have been changed must be put out for review.
- Make a plan for when important papers for vehicles need to be renewed.
- Help with paperwork that has to do with Crossroads.
- Do any other work the boss gives you.
Skills or Experience Needed
- At least a JSS/SSCE Certificate or its equivalent, plus work as an auto mechanic.
- English-speaking and able to converse well in English. It helps to be able to speak French.
- At least a Class “D” driver’s license that is current.
- Clean record as a driver.
- Good understanding of the rules for road safety.
- Know the area roads and routes well enough to get around.
- At least five years of work experience, ideally in an NGO.
- Basic understanding of how to use computer software
- Respect, good people skills, and diversity
- Able to do their jobs with less help
- The ability to use maps, GPS systems, and car instructions.
- Effective ways to talk to people.
- On-time and dependable.
- Ability to build trust and get people to do what needs to be done
- Integrity and being responsible
Essential conditions:
- To work 35 hours a week on average and up to 40 hours a week when on tasks.
- Infrequent local travel is needed
