Create Change Ghana (CCG) aims to empower people in Ghana’s Northern area by educating girls and expanding women’s leadership. The non-governmental organization is looking for a new Program Director to help it enter a new era of expansion.
The chosen candidate will join a small team in Tamale, Northern Ghana. Create Change Ghana, founded in 2007 by its Canadian partner Create Change Foundation, aims to empower girls to drive innovative social change in education, rural community development, and leadership. Our goal is to empower young capable women who are passionate about making a difference in their communities to run our impact-focused programs.
Job Description
We are searching for a leader who can effectively manage our new initiatives and guarantee that we become a more efficient organization, a better partner, and a leader in our sector in terms of sustainability and innovative ways to human empowerment.
The program director position
As part of our Northern Ghana team, the Program Director will be responsible for overseeing CCG’s operations and initiatives. This position seeks to enhance the organization’s mission of education, rural community development, and women’s empowerment. The Program Director will collaborate with all stakeholders to strengthen our effective cycle of educating girls, providing them with meaningful opportunities and experiences, and empowering them to become leaders in Northern Ghana and within our organization.
The new Program Director will head our fellowship team, which consists of young female university graduates ready to take on a variety of program tasks. The successful candidate will work closely with the Create Change Foundation in Canada to develop guidelines, training manuals, workshops, and other tools for new initiatives. They will oversee all parts of the fellowship program, including recruitment, training, and monitoring and evaluation.
We are looking for someone with proven expertise in executing social programs in schools and rural communities. The ideal candidate should be a natural mentor with extensive experience working with youth and a strong desire to advocate for Ghana’s underprivileged groups. A strong commitment to uplifting girls and young women is required, as is the willingness to provide ongoing mentoring and training.
The Program Director will be enthusiastic about putting forward creative, empowering ways to development and social change.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordination and Supervision: Coordinate, manage, and supervise the operations of several departments within the organization. Create and maintain efficient and effective operational systems to assure compliance.
- Program Design: collaborate with the Create Change Foundation to flesh out all aspects of programs, including effect goals, structure, workshop design, deadlines, budgets, and monitoring and evaluation.
- Best Practices entail improving processes and policies to help organizations achieve their goals. Create and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to increase productivity. Maintain conformity to rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Human Resources: Coordinate with the ED to plan the usage of human resources. Assist in the recruitment, placement, and training of essential personnel; the construction of an organizational structure; and the distribution of responsibilities and accountability.
- Establish work timetables: Supervise employees. Monitor and assess performance in collaboration with the ED.
- Mentorship and Training: Create and implement mentorship and training programs with fellows so that they can manage all areas of a program in 6 months.
- Data Collection, Analysis, and Impact Reporting: Ensure that all departments collect and analyze data regularly, as well as report on their social impact.
- Curriculum Design and Implementation: Ensure that staff develop and implement excellent curricula for both training and education-related programs.
- Communication entails monitoring, managing, and improving the efficiency of support services such as information technology, human resources, accounting, and finance.
- Facilitate cooperation and communication among support functions.
- Strategic Input: Communicate with the Board of Directors and the Executive Director of
- Create Change Canada: Help build strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and monitor operational plans.
- Risk Management entails overseeing organizational policies throughout all aspects of the organization.
Required Skill or Experience
- Master’s degree in a related discipline with 3+ years of experience in an NGO, or
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years experience in an NGO.
- Proven experience as a program director or equivalent position.
- Adequate understanding of organizational effectiveness and operations management
- Budget development and supervision experience.
- Working knowledge of finances, projections, and measurements.
- Familiar with financial management principles and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to expand personal networks and provide new opportunities for the business, as well as expertise in monitoring, evaluating, and reporting effects.
- Demonstrated leadership and experience analyzing difficult challenges to determine a clear path forward.
- Ability to successfully communicate with all levels of the organization and a collaborative management approach.
- Has a background in developing and leading a team with diverse backgrounds and expertise.
- Experience guiding transformation in an organization that has yielded significant results for the organization.
- Can delegate responsibilities effectively.
- Experience with literacy initiatives, rural community development, gender empowerment, or climate action projects is a valuable asset.
- Excellent computer abilities, skilled in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
