Countries with more Moslems in the world
Muslims make up about 1.8 billion people in the world. This makes it the second-largest religion after Christianity. Muslims can be found all over the world. The religion was first founded in Mecca, current day Saudi Arabia by the prophet Muhammad. Here is s list of countries with more Muslims.
1 . Firstly, Indonesia
Indonesia has one of the largest populations in the world. Although the country is said to be a secular state, it has over 227 million people identifying as Muslim. The Shafi’i school of Sunni jurisprudence has 99% of Muslim followers. The Muslims can be categorized into two groups, the modernists and traditionalists.
Modernists are those who follow the traditional theories but are open-minded and willing to learn the ways of the Western world. The traditionalist on the other hand ate those that continually reject modern and western teaching and stick to the traditional Islamic school of thinking and worship.
2 . Secondly, Pakistan
Pakistan is an Islamic state and is known as the world’s center of political Islam. The Muslim community makes up 97% of the Pakistan population whereas Christians, Hindus, and other minorities take the remaining percentage. In Pakistan, leaders are appointed based on their religious credentials. One thing that is abhorred in Pakistan is criticizing the Islamic religion.
3 . Besides the above, India
India is another country with the largest Islamic population. Although the country practices Hinduism,13.4% of India’s total population are Muslims. Missionaries from Persia and Arabian traders are those said to have introduced the religion to the people.
4 . Also, Nigeria
Nigeria has a greater population practicing Islam. Most of the Muslims in Nigeria are Sunnis. Although the country has a large population being Muslims, the country is described as a secular country. The country has gone through several Islamic reforms. Some of these reforms include replacing the country’s constitution with Sharia law. Due to this many Nigerians have lost their lives because of religious violence.
5 . Finally, Egypt
Egypt is an Islamic dominant country with 95% of the population being Muslims. The Sunni Muslims make up a majority of the population. Egypt’s architecture, arts, and culture are a reflection of the Islamic religion.
