Ghana’s coronavirus cases have increased to 21.
“Ghana records two(2) new cases of COVID-19 with 1 death, this leaves the existing case count in the country to be 20,” the Ghana Health Service reported on its website on Saturday.
Prior to the new development, the website reported three new cases earlier on Saturday pushing the figure to 19. One of the patients said to have an underlying health problem however died in the Ashanti Region.
The deceased, a 61-year-old man, reported to a health facility in Kumasi with a fever and cough.
His temperature was 39.4 degrees Celcius.
A deputy Minister of Health, Alexander Abban who confirmed the death of the coronavirus patient, told Citi News that “the information I got from the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service is that that person [the Lebanese man] has died. He died today.”
Following the death of one of the patients, the current active cases in Ghana currently stand at 20.
At least three of these cases have been suspected to be community spread.
