About the Fellowship

WHI builds principled, bipartisan leadership through direct Hill experience. Fellows join congressional offices as genuine contributing team members. Georgetown’s Government Affairs Institute delivers intensive legislative process training. The program targets values-driven, mid-career professionals specifically.

What Fellows Receive

Fellows receive full-time pay throughout the fellowship year. Structured training, mentorship, and WHI programming accompany the placement. Fellows also build lasting Capitol Hill professional networks. Required December orientation prepares fellows before their placement begins.

Who Can Apply

Applicants need five years of professional or comparable substantive experience. A bachelor’s degree is required; advanced degrees aren’t mandatory. Military or veteran background is preferred but not required. US citizenship or work-authorized permanent residency is necessary.

Applicants submit a current resume and a personal statement. At least two professional references are required for consideration. Prior congressional relationships must be fully disclosed during the process.
