1. Associate Engineer, Structural

Planning and designing facilities and structures including tunnels, bridges, pumping stations, and other infrastructure buildings are necessary for this line of work. You might also help with the production of inspection reports and field inspections.

You will design wet utility distribution systems, such as networks for potable water, firefighting, irrigation, and sewage, under the direction of a senior engineer.

Duties

  • Prepares engineering calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs, or assists in their preparation.
  • Aids in the creation of comprehensive requests for procurement of goods, services, and subcontracts.
  • Helps a senior engineer review the technical bid analyses and drawings that vendors have supplied. aids in the creation and distribution of data sheets, building specifications, and other paperwork.
  • Participates in the same project’s work being done by CAD designers and drapers.
  • Help in putting together presentations for clients.
  • The engineer will be expected to use specialist 3D software, create models, and perform CAD-related tasks.
  • As appropriate, carry out extra tasks related to this position.
  • Produce utility cross-sections following the guidelines provided by Gulf local agencies, including MOMRA (KSA), DMT (Abu Dhabi), and RTA (Dubai).
  • Experience and knowledge in using Bentley WaterCAD, WaterGems, Open Utilities, SewerGems, or related software to prepare and construct hydraulic models for pressure utilities, design reports, and other related tasks under the guidance of a senior engineer.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable university
  • Two years or more of expertise designing wet utility distribution networks, such as those for irrigation, firefighting, potable water, and sewage.
  • Knowledgeable about estimating load demands for large-scale government and/or commercial projects.
  • Aware of the regulations about water, irrigation, firefighting, sewage, and other pertinent Gulf authorities, including DEWA, ADDC, ADWEA, TRANSCO, DM, ADM, DCD, and ADCD.
  • Aware of the Pump stations’ hydraulic design specifications.
  • Familiar with both American and British codes, as well as the DEWA/DM specifications for irrigation and potable water designs.
  • Negotiation experience with DEWA / DM to obtain NOCs and design approvals is desired.
