Christian Atsu found dead after Turkey earthquake – agent confirmed
Christian Atsu’s body was found under the rubble of his home almost two weeks after the earthquake in Turkey. This was confirmed by his agent.
The Ghana player, who is 31 years old, has played for Everton, Chelsea, and Newcastle, all of which are Premier League teams.
Atsu had not been seen since the earthquake on February 6, which caused his apartment in the city of Hatay to collapse.
His team, Hatayspor, said at first that he was saved “with injuries,” but a day later, they changed their story.
“It breaks my heart to have to tell all of Christian Atsu’s friends and family that his body was found this morning,” his agent Nana Sechere tweeted on Saturday.
“I’m very sorry for his family and close friends. I’d like to use this chance to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.”
Atsu joined the top team in Turkey, Hatayspor, in September 2022. On February 5, he scored the game-winning goal in a Super Lig match.
More than 40,000 people have died because of the earthquakes and aftershocks in southern Turkey and northern Syria.
There will be more.
