China BNU Global Young Scholarship Forum 2025
Beijing Normal University (BNU) cordially invites exceptional young academics from all over the world to engage in its esteemed Global Young Scholars Forum 2025. The sixth edition of this significant academic event occurred in late 2024 and early 2025, drawing attendees both physically and virtually. The forum included academic presentations, workshops, and discussions on talent policy, acting as a key platform for BNU’s global talent recruitment efforts.
During the forum, BNU has initiated a new group for its Overseas Outstanding Young Scholars Program, providing remarkable research prospects and appealing advantages for elite young scholars eager to join BNU in China.
About Beijing Normal University
BNU is a renowned university directly overseen by China’s Ministry of Education, recognized for its expertise in teacher training, educational sciences, and core fields in the arts and sciences.
The differences:
- Participant in Project 985 and Project 211 (elite university programs in China)
- Included in the Double First-Class University Plan (Class A) since 2017.
- Part of the second phase of Double First-Class development in 2022.
- Among the initial 20 universities with the power to grant degrees independently.
- 36 master’s degree programs at the first level, 34 doctoral programs at the first level, and 30 postdoctoral research centres.
About the Overseas Exceptional Young Scholars Initiative
The Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) seeks to draw in and assist exceptional young researchers — including foreign nationals who are not Chinese — who have achieved significant successes in natural sciences, engineering, and associated areas. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to select their own research paths and engage in groundbreaking research at BNU, aiding in China’s scientific and technological progress.
Objectives:
- Speed up the development of young scientific and technological talents.
- Prepare academic leaders with the capability to lead in global scientific advancements.
- Enhance China’s status as a premier international research center.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates are required to:
- Adhere to Chinese regulations and maintain scientific honesty.
- Be born on or after the first of January, 1985.
- Possess a doctoral degree
- Focus on natural sciences, engineering, or similar domains.
- By September 15, 2025, possess a minimum of 36 months of uninterrupted research or teaching experience abroad in an accredited university, research institute, or R&D organization (exceptions may apply for exceptional candidates).
- Have attained scientifically or technologically recognized outcomes by peers, showing potential for leadership in their area.
- Must not currently be employed full-time in China or have come back after January 1, 2024; must agree to work full-time in China for a minimum of three years following funding approval.
Caution: Restrictions for national-level talent programs are in effect — candidates may manage only one project at the same tier.
