Combined master’s and PhD programs
A growing number of joint Ph.D. programs with King’s and its foreign partners are available.
Under these programs, research students get ongoing academic supervision from faculty members at both universities. Students are governed by the policies and procedures of both their “home” and “partner” universities, although they must register and apply to both. Should they succeed, they will be awarded a joint PhD by both universities.
Students are exposed to two distinct research cultures and traditions when they spend up to half of their three-year program at another university. This enhances their cultural competence and positions them favorably for employment in a labor market that is becoming more and more globalized.
Working in two different nations offers international academic referees and experience of two different academic recruitment markets to individuals who aspire to pursue an academic career.
Having access to two complementary sets of academic expertise is another benefit of joint supervision.
