Changes to Priority Services for Visa Applications
According to an update from VFS Global, UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) has said that their Priority Visa Services will change. These changes affect new applications for study and supported work visas, visit visas, and family visas.
Priority Visa Services for new study and sponsored work applications
UKVI has said that Priority Visa (PV) and Super Priority Visa (SPV) can now be bought online and at the Visa Application Centre before submitting biometrics for new study and sponsored work applications, where possible.
But people who apply as a dependent through the Start-Up, Innovator, or High Potential Individual routes still can’t get special service. When making meetings, they are told not to buy this service. They won’t be able to change their status at the Visa Application Centers either.
During the online process, if a customer accidentally paid for the priority service as a dependent in one of these categories, UKVI will call them to change their application to the standard service and let them know how to get their priority fees back.
It’s important to note that people applying as dependents through eligible work and study methods cannot buy SPV when they book their appointments.
If needed, SPV can be bought at the Visa Application Centre at the scheduled meeting time, before biometrics are given.
Priority Visa Services for New Visit Visa Applications
UKVI has cut back on the number of PV dates available for new applications for visit visas so that they can handle more standard applications and gradually shorten the time it takes to process all applications.
But the number of SPV appointments for new visit applications will not be cut where this service is offered. Appointments for both PV and SPV cannot be bought after the fact for new visit visa applications.
Priority Visa Services for Family Applications
UKVI brought back PV services for people applying for a new family visa from outside the UK on February 20, 2023. Applications for PV will be looked at within 30 days or 6 weeks of the date biometrics were sent in. The standard PV fee of £573 applies to this service.
Please keep in mind that Priority services are not offered everywhere. Customers should check VFS Global’s website to see if their chosen application center offers the service.
