Why attend Central Michigan University to study?
A neighborhood that looks out for you
You will soon be able to call one of our fifteen residence halls home if you live there. Home, as you’ll make lifelong pals there. Home is where you need to be to feel connected and involved and witness academic achievement because everything you need is here.
With a variety of services and amenities, such as internet access, coffee shops, eating areas, residential exercise centers, and laundry rooms, each residence hall is a village inside a community. As a first-year student, you have the option of living in a standard residence hall or living in a living-learning community with other CMU Chippewas who share your interests, aspirations, and accomplishments in academia.
Assisting in your success
More than 125 employees from 18 different campus departments make up the Division of Student Affairs, which is devoted to supporting Central Michigan students both inside and outside of the classroom.
We value diversity and work to establish a friendly, secure environment where each student is free to be who they truly are. We offer services and programs in the following areas: leadership and participation, identity and inclusion, health, and well-being.
CMU STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
We want to allow you to explore new interests so you can do even more of what you love, and we want to support you in doing more of what you love. Including everything from Zeta Theta Pi to the Advertising Club, our list includes over 400 student organizations covering social, athletic, artistic, professional, and other special interest groups.
There’s more to Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) than just a space to be yourself and interact with like-minded people. You will have the opportunity to hone your leadership abilities in your student organization.
Furthermore, if your involvement stems from your enthusiasm, you can pave the way for others to follow in your footsteps. Your planning of an event for the coed business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi might be a warm-up for the day you’ll be asked to organize a networking event at your internship. Your public relations strategy for PR Central will look fantastic on a resume.

HOW TO APPLY AS AN INCOMING FRESHMAN
All set to join the CMU Chippewa family? It’s simple to apply, and we’re pleased to assist. What you should know to apply as a first-year student is as follows:
Take these actions.
Step 1: Review Our Requirements for Admission
When reviewing applications for admission, we evaluate several factors, such as GPA, high school course selection, and consistent academic advancement. If you opt to submit your SAT or ACT score, we will also take that into account.
We highly advise you to finish the following high school courses:
- Four years of English
- Four years of mathematics
- Four years of biology and physics
- Four years of social sciences and history
We also urge you to finish the following extra courses:
- Two years in a foreign language
- Two years of fine arts electives
- One year of practical computing experience
Step 2: Finish Up Your Application
Before your senior year of high school, you can apply as early as August 1. A rolling review process is used to assess applications.
Maroon and Gold Merit Scholarships are given out on a first-come, first-served basis after December 1.
Apply through the Common Application or directly to CMU.
Step 4: Forward Your Transcript to Us
If you provide an official or unofficial transcript, we will consider you for admission and a merit scholarship. When you apply, you can send in an unofficial transcript or request an official copy from your school counselor.
Provide us with updated transcripts after each semester. It might lead to a scholarship with more money.
Before you enroll, we need to get your final official high school transcripts. Official transcripts from each college you attended, whether you were enrolled in a dual enrollment program or an early/middle college program, are also required.
Step 5: You can choose to submit your test results.
The majority of students can be admitted and get a merit scholarship without having to submit their exam results. If you submit one, though, you might be able to get a better scholarship. Adding a score has no negative effects because it can only improve your scholarship. It won’t ever be lowered. You can attach your test results to your application or submit them at any point up to July 1.
Forwarding Your Results:
If you decide to send us your test results, you can send an official score report to apply@cmich.edu or designate CMU as a recipient on your exam.
- SAT number: 1106
- ACT number: 1972
Note that if you attend a school that does not offer grades or are homeschooled, you must have an ACT or SAT score.
