About the Fellowship

The program has trained more than 300 decision scientists since 1995. It offers two tracks:

  • Traditional Track: For economists and health services researchers who produce cost and burden-of-illness analyses.
  • Analytics and Modeling Track: For disease modelers, applied mathematicians, and operations researchers. Fellows use dynamic, microsimulation, and network models.

Fellows produce analyses that help local, state, and national leaders decide where to focus resources. They receive hands-on mentorship at CDC. Selection is extremely competitive.

What Fellows Receive

  • A two-year, full-time applied training position at CDC
  • Hands-on mentorship from CDC experts
  • Experience producing analyses that inform public health policy
  • CDC’s pages do not state salary or benefits.
