CAS-ANSO China Fully-Funded Scholarship 2026/2027
The CAS-ANSO Scholarship (Degree Program) 2026-2027 has now begun accepting global applications as of October 15, 2025, encouraging the brightest young talents worldwide to pursue their studies in China within a major international science partnership.
Initiated by the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations (ANSO), a worldwide non-profit established in 2018 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and 36 other global institutions, this scholarship seeks to support budding scientists, improve global research capacity, and foster scientific collaboration across the Belt and Road Regions.
Initially launched in 2019 as the ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents, the CAS-ANSO Scholarship supports 100–200 Master’s students and 300 PhD candidates each year to undertake postgraduate education at leading Chinese universities: Postgraduate study guides.

The ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship program annually selects up to 40 doctoral candidates from developing nations, emphasizing research on climate issues, Least Developed Countries (LDCs), and promoting female researchers.
ANSO 2026 Scholarships are Fully Funded
The CAS-ANSO scholarship, which is fully funded, provides academic assistance that includes:
- Tuition fee exemption for the entire program length.
- Monthly allowance (competitive living stipend).
- Coverage for health insurance.
- Housing support or campus residence.
- Global travel financial assistance (for qualifying candidates).
- Reimbursement for fieldwork/research travel in line with CAS/TWAS/UNESCO guidelines.
All chosen students are required to undergo mandatory training in Chinese language, culture, and academic ethics, in addition to their degree studies and research.
Important: Students who are in China when they apply cannot receive travel subsidies. Yearly performance evaluations are compulsory; noncompliance may result in scholarship termination.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the CAS-ANSO Scholarship 2026, candidates need to:
- Be citizens who are not Chinese.
- Show mastery in English or Chinese.
- Fulfill the entry criteria of USTC or UCAS
- Must have been born after January 1, 1996, for Master’s programs and after January 1, 1991, for PhD programs.
- Do not maintain simultaneous assignments or scholarships while studying.
- Not currently registered in another master’s or doctoral program in China.
Applicants are not allowed to apply to both USTC and UCAS at the same time — doing so leads to automatic disqualification.
How to Apply
Applications are only accepted online through the specific university portals:
- For applicants to USTC: Adhere to the official Application Guidelines for Graduate Applicants to USTC.
- For UCAS applicants: Consult the 2026 Announcement for Doctoral or Master’s Programs intended for International Students.
- Meet the admission requirements of USTC or UCAS.
- Establish an account on the USTC or UCAS application platform.
- Choose “CAS-ANSO Scholarship” as your source of funding.
- (Optional) Check the box for ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship if you qualify.
- Submit all necessary documents before the cutoff.

The deadline to submit applications for the CAS-ANSO Scholarship for the 2026–2027 cohort is January 31, 2026 (Beijing Time). The application period officially begins on October 15, 2025, encouraging international students to send their documents via USTC or UCAS admission platforms. All candidates who are shortlisted will be reached out to by the relevant universities and the ANSO Secretariat following the review process, providing additional guidance about the upcoming selection phases.
