Obaatan Pa Women’s Hospital is seeking a qualified and experienced Perioperative Nurse to join our dedicated clinical team. This vital role involves providing comprehensive nursing care throughout the surgical journey, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient outcomes. The successful candidate will be integral to our operating theatre, supporting a wide range of obstetric and gynecological surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

You will deliver specialized nursing care across the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases.

Deliver meticulous perioperative nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
Prepare the operating theatre, surgical equipment, and instruments meticulously according to established clinical standards and checklists.
Assist surgeons and anesthetists effectively during surgical procedures, anticipating needs and maintaining a sterile field.
Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention, control protocols, and aseptic techniques at all times.
Accurately document all perioperative care activities in line with hospital policy, including entries into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition continuously to ensure patient safety and stability throughout the procedure.
Participate actively in theatre audits, inventory management, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
Support both emergency and elective surgical cases as required, demonstrating flexibility and composure.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must possess a Diploma or a Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
Hold a valid post-basic qualification in Perioperative or Theatre Nursing.
Maintain a current and active license with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana.
Have a minimum of two years of hands-on perioperative or theatre nursing experience, preferably within a women’s health or surgical setting.
Demonstrate strong practical knowledge of aseptic techniques, surgical protocols, and patient safety principles.
Possess the ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and being on call as per the hospital schedule.
Exhibit excellent communication skills, a strong team-oriented approach, and unwavering professionalism.
