POSITION: Procurement Officer
Objective of the Position
The purchasing officer manages buying operations and guarantees that acquired products are economical and of superior quality. The duties of the procurement officer involve sourcing, fostering positive relationships with suppliers, assessing supply choices, issuing purchase orders, and keeping precise records. The purchasing officer will negotiate and make certain that all acquisitions adhere to company standards.
Main Responsibilities & Duties
- Formulating plans for acquiring equipment, services, and supplies.
- Tasked with preparing and distributing Requests for Proposals / Requests for Quotes (RFP/RFQs), investigating and assessing the qualifications of procurement sources, crafting comprehensive evaluations of proposals, and negotiating terms to achieve target costs.
- Create and manage procurement procedures, bidding activities, etc.
- Carry out research and guide discussions (costs, timelines, and terms & conditions) with vendors.
- Activities related to supplier management before and after the award
- Discussions (vendor pricing, delivery schedules, and exceptions to purchase agreement, Terms and Conditions)
- Keeping and refreshing supplier details like certifications, lead times, product assortments, etc.
- Encourage the application of current procurement standard operating procedures to maintain consistent compliance with standards and identify further opportunities for process enhancement.
- Upholding the Supplier Management Procedure
Required Qualifications, Skills, or Background
Minimum requirements(s)
- A bachelor’s degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) focusing on procurement, supply chain management, business administration, or a similar field is preferred, or a comparable mix of education and professional experience.
- Any professional certification related to supply chain management
Minimum Experience
- At least 5+ years of applicable experience in a procurement or supply chain position.
- Skilled in MS Office and SAP (additional benefit)
- The capability to manage various intricate needs in a high-pressure setting to meet essential deadlines.
