After many meetings and talks, the Canadian government has decided to let permanent residents join the Canadian Armed Forces. This lets people who live in Canada but are not Canadian citizens join the Canadian Armed Forces.

Being part of the country’s military is not just a job but also a service full of selfless acts wherein patriotism and loyalty have to be of the utmost quality. This provides equal opportunity for foreigners to join the Canadian army.

Steps on how to become a part of the Canada Army Force (CAF) are seen below;

5 STEPS TO JOIN THE CANADIAN ARMED FORCES

1. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

Original identity documents, a photo ID, the highest level of academic transcripts, evidence of your professional licenses as well as any other documents needed for the field chosen, must then be presented. The Alliance of Credential Evaluation Services of Canada must provide a Canadian equivalency for all foreign education.

2. RELIABILITY ASSESSMENT

Forms for reliability screening will be completed by you. By doing this, you establish your reliability when handling private data. Be totally truthful when completing the necessary forms because the Canadian Forces shall verify all of your submissions.

3. APTITUDE TEST

You’ll take an aptitude test to help determine which military specialties you might be most qualified for. The intelligence test will assess your verbal, spatial, and problem-solving abilities.

Also, you will take a personality questionnaire, which offers details on your individual traits and qualities, during the testing session.

4. MEDICAL EXAM

Next, you’ll have a two-part medical examination: A questionnaire about your medical history, which includes details about your medications, comes first. The medical personnel will then perform a physical examination to gauge your height, and weight, and assess your hearing, eyesight, and perception of color.
Reviewing your medical records in the second stage will help you identify any limits that could hinder your training and career.

5. INTERVIEW

An interview with an army career counselor is the final step in the process; it’s your official employment interview and a crucial one. You will be questioned about your professional experience, understanding of the Canadian Forces, and comprehension of the position you chose during the highly competitive application process.

ELIGIBILITY

To start a career in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have completed at least grade 10 or 24 credits of secondary IV

On becoming a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, you can apply for citizenship.
