Canada Immigration: IRCC Processing Times June 2024

The IRCC is now providing monthly reports on average processing times for different types of citizenship, family sponsorships, and business immigration. These processing timetables, which go into effect on May 1, 2024, are meant to provide applicants with an idea of how long it would take to hear back regarding their application.

Additionally, potential applicants can be prepared for what to expect before applying in the future. It’s crucial to remember that the application processing time begins when the IRCC receives the entire submission and concludes when the immigration officer decides about the application.

IRCC Processing Times for Citizenship (Updated Monthly) and PR Cards (Updated Weekly)

Citizenship processing times are determined by the number of applications in the IRCC’s inventory, the number of staff members allocated to handle various types of applications, and the number of new applications the IRCC may receive.

Current Processing Times for Various Citizenship and Permanent Residency Applications

  • Citizenship Grant: Since May 1, the processing time has remained the same at eight months; however, when compared to April 23, the Citizenship Certificate processing time has significantly improved by six months.
  • Proof of Citizenship: Since May 1, the processing time has been constant at three months. When compared to April 23, this shows a notable improvement of minus 4 months.
  • Resumption of Citizenship: As of May 28, there haven’t been any modifications, but there wasn’t enough current data to give an exact processing time.
  • Renunciation of Citizenship: As of May 28, the processing time stays at 13 months without any modifications.
  • Search of Citizenship Records: As of May 28, the processing period for obtaining citizenship records remains unchanged at 13 months, much like the renunciation process.
  • New PR Card: Since May 1, the processing time has increased by 31 days to 79 days. Still, nothing has changed since then.
  • PR Card Renewals: With 68 days remaining in the processing time, it has increased by +12 days since May 1. Since then, nothing more has changed.

Acknowledgment of receipt letters and emails are currently being sent by IRCC to paper and online applications that were received in the week of May 23, 2024. The processing time for new permanent residence cards and renewals is updated every week and is based on how long it took the IRCC to process 80% of all completed applications in the past.

Family Sponsorship IRCC Processing Times Updated Monthly

Starting in May 2024, family sponsorship processing timeframes will be revised monthly. These updates will primarily take into account the number of applications in the IRCC inventory, the number of staff members handling these kinds of applications, and the number of applications that the IRCC anticipates receiving.

It also covers the time needed for the sponsor to complete the examination, the applicant’s eligibility, and the sponsor’s biometric data.

Current Processing Times for Various Spousal and Parental Permanent Residency Applications

Temporary Residency Processing Times (updated weekly)
