OFFICE OF GRANTS AND RESEARCH (OGR)
Applications are invited from qualified persons for appointment as GRANTS AND RESEARCH FELLOW at the Bureau of Integrated Rural Development (BIRD), KNUST.
The Grants and Research Fellow at KNUST plays a crucial role in promoting research through grants or donor funding. He/she is responsible for identifying available funding support for researchers, participates in research proposal development, stimulates evidence-based internal and external research collaboration, and researcher education and training. He/ She must play an active role in all stages of the grants cycle including pre-award, award and post-award services.
The responsibilities of the Grants and Research Fellow include but not limited to the following:
- Works collaboratively with other faculty members to generate research ideas and develop proposals in response to a Call
- Contributes to the writing of competitive grant proposal narratives
- Identifies and researches into new sources of funding for research
- Disseminates information on available funding opportunities for research
- Plays an active role in the development of grants/research proposals and protect the interest of the University at all times
- Effectively manages proposal development and grant application processes
- Assist in reviewing grant applications to ensure conformity with the University’s research agenda
- Coordinates grant proposal writing and promote research collaboration among faculty members
- Ensures the incorporation of appropriate inter/multi/transdisciplinary approaches in research elaboration
- Identifies and implement innovative approaches to improve research administration across the Colleges
- Ensures compliance with all donor agreements in conformity with the vision of the University
- Conducts relevant research to provide evidence-based recommendations to improve grants and research policy and practice in the University
- Provides research support for the management of the KNUST Research Fund (KReF)
Qualification and Experience
- Minimum MSc/MA/MPhil from a recognized institution with a deep interest in scientific research and grantsmanship
- At least five (5) years of professional experience in developing proposals to funders including NIH, DANIDA, USAID, Welcome Trust or European Union projects, etc.
- Must be knowledgeable in grants proposal writing, proposal routing and review process, contract review and negotiations and award management
- Must have expertise in project management, budgeting, grants administration, and research methodology
- Have a strong interest in research with excellent proposal writing skills
- Must be a competent, dynamic and result-oriented person who is self-motivated and able to work effectively with little or no supervision
- Must be a good team player with good interpersonal skills
- Must demonstrate a high sense of professionalism and ability to exercise sound judgment
- Must be detail-oriented, multi-tasking and responsive to deadlines
- Must be a self-starter, diplomatic, gender-fair, and pro-active
Mode of Application

Ten (10) copies of the completed Application Forms with Curriculum Vitae, two (2) Referees Report, and photocopies or relevant Certificates should be submitted to the Deputy Registrar not later than Friday, June 26, 2020.
