AUSTRIA PASSPORT APPLICATION PORTAL
Austrians are granted Austrian passports to make international travel easier. Currently, the Austrian passport holds the fifth-place spot among all passports. Every Austrian citizen is a member of the European Union as well. The passport and national identity card give the holder the right to live and travel freely in all European Economic Community member countries and Switzerland.
TYPES OF AUSTRIA PASSPORT
Austrian passports are classified based on the conditions under which they are processed. Per this grouping, Austrian passports can be grouped into three (3) namely;
-
Regular Passport
This is the standard passport type for Austrian citizens. This passport takes a few weeks to process. Necessary paperwork is used in the application process.
-
Express Passport
The “sterreichische Staatsdruckerei” in Vienna produces express passports in a timely manner before sending them straight to the applicant, wherever they may be residing. The same paperwork required for ordinary passport applications applies when seeking an express passport.
-
Emergency Passport
If necessary, the Embassy will give you an emergency passport so you can travel to Austria. Passports issued in an emergency are good for approximately six months. You must also show the Embassy your ID and proof that you are a citizen. You may also need to show proof that you filed a police report.
PASSPORT VALIDATION PERIOD
Austrian passports all have the same amount of time left on them. Candidates who are at least 18 years old have a 10-year time limit, while applicants who are under 18 have a 5-year maximum duration.
