Introduction of the Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL)

• Essential Skills Pathway: This pathway targets essential skill occupations earning below $30,150 per year. Further assessments are underway to determine its implementation.

Establishment of the National Innovation Visa

Late in 2024, Australia will replace the Global Talent Visa Subclass 858 with the National Innovation Visa. This visa targets exceptionally talented migrants who can drive growth in sectors of national importance. Applicants must be nominated through an approved form by individuals or organizations with a national reputation in their area of achievement.

Expansion of the Permanent Migration Program

For the 2024-25 period, the Australian government has set the permanent migration program planning level at 185,000 places. Approximately 71% of these spots will go to the skill stream.
