A.VACANCY FOR JUNIOR STAFF POSITIONS

Position 1: Nursery Assistant

Reporting to: Head of Basic School

Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  1. Hold Pre-School Certificate issued by the Ghana Education Service. OR
  2. A certificate in early childhood education from a recognized institution.
  3. Preference will be given to holders of GCE O level/SSSCE/WASSCE with 3 credits including English Language

Duties

The successful candidate shall:

  1. Assist the Nursery Teacher in keeping the pupils clean and safe.
  2. Other duties that may be assigned by the Head Teacher.

Position 2: Conservancy Labourers/Cleaners

Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates in possession of the BECE certificate or GCE ‘O’ level / SSSCE passes.

Duties

The successful candidate shall:

  1. Keep the School compound, classrooms and washrooms clean and neat at all times.
  2. Other duties that may be assigned by the Head Teacher.

Position 3: Driver Mechanic

Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  1. Possess at least the BECE Certificate and must be in possession of a valid Driving License F; with accident free record for 5 years.
  2. Be able to read and write English.
  3. Not be less than 25 years and must be medically certified to be fit to drive.
  4. Knowledge of mechanics will be an advantage.

Duties

The successful candidate shall be responsible for driving University vehicles and such other
duties as may be assigned by the Transport Officer.

Qualifications

  2. Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Education awarded by a recognised university with not less than 7 years post qualification experience.
  3. In addition, the candidate should have Teacher’s Cert. “A” or a tertiary diploma awarded by a recognised institution.
  4. Demonstrate high-level of competency in leadership and administrative skills.
  5. Be computer literate.

Duties

The successful candidate shall:

  1. Assist the Head of the Basic School in the day to day administration of the Primary School.

  7. Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and facilities.

Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  1. Possess a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education awarded by a recognised university with not less than 4 years’ teaching experience.
  2. In addition, the candidate should have
  • Teacher’s Cert. “A” or
  • Tertiary diploma awarded by a recognised institution or
  • Basic Certificate issued by the Ghana Education Service or the Department of Social Welfare.

Duties

Position 4: Nursing Officer

Reporting to: Head of Basic School

Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree or a tertiary diploma in nursing awarded by a recognized tertiary institution
  • Be a State Registered Nurses with considerable post qualification experience and must have served as Senior Staff Nurse for at least 4 years.

Duties

The successful candidate shall:

  1. Have overall responsibility for the care and comfort and proper first aid administration for pupils.
  2. Take care of all equipment, clothing and other Services as may be prescribed by the Head of Basic School.

Position 5: Senior Library Assistant

Reporting to: Head of Basic School

Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Library/Information Studies awarded by a recognised university with at least 2 years post qualification experience. OR
  • Hold a tertiary diploma in Library/Archives Administration awarded by a recognised university with at least 4 years post qualification experience.
  • In all cases, candidates must be computer literate.

Duties

The successful candidate shall be responsibility for running the Basic School Library and the training of subordinate staff.

Position 6: Stores Superintendent

Reporting to: Head of Procurement

Qualifications

The successful applicant must:

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree (Accounting/Commerce/Purchasing and Supply option) awarded by a recognised university or
  2. 25% of a relevant professional qualification or
  3. A tertiary diploma in Accounting/Commerce/Purchasing and Supply awarded by a recognised institution.
  4. In all cases, candidates must be computer literate.

Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for ordering, keeping and maintaining stores, stock-taking of the various stores, preparation of estimates, and general correspondence on all connected matters. Including short-landings and insurance claims, expeditious handling of all cases of loss and damage, application and interpretation of Stores Regulations and instructions.

  2. Meet with the School board and other stakeholders to determine school objectives and ensure that the objectives are achieved.
  3. Be responsible for supervising both staff and students.
  4. Tasked with enforcing school disciplinary roles, codes of ethics, and preventing potential safety violations.
  5. Create the most effective and conducive educational environment for learning.
  6. Develop extra curriculum activities needed for students to succeed in the classroom.
  7. Provide counselling to both teachers and students on behaviour that may be disruptive.
  8. Be responsible for the maintenance of sports equipment and facilities.
  9. Supervise teachers’ syllabuses to make sure that they are teaching relevant and appropriate information.
  10. Perform any other duty assign to him/her by the School Board.

Tenure

The person appointed Head of Basic School shall hold office for a period of four years and is eligible for re-appointment.

The University of Health and Allied Sciences invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the following position.

Position 1: Director of ICT
Reporting to: Registrar
Effective Date: August 1, 2020

Qualifications

The applicant must:
a. be of at least Deputy Director of ICT status from an academic/research institution or from industry and eligible for appointment as such. OR,

b. possess a Master’s degree in Computer Science or any other ICT related discipline with a minimum of 12 years relevant working experience at management level. Certification with a recognised professional body will be an added advantage.
c. In addition, the applicant must have:

  • Considerable strategic, interpersonal and collegial skills that will enable him/her to function within the Higher Education Sector;
  • Good business sense with a deep understanding and appreciation of the strategic and operational issues in top-level University management and administration;

Duties

The Director of ICT shall:
  1. Develop and implement strategic long-term goals, policies, procedures and training to enable the University leverage on information technology and communication to achieve its corporate vision.
  2. Be responsible for the overall development and delivery of information and communication technology services and solutions to faculty, management, administrative departments, research institutes, finance and students of the university.
  3. Develop and deploy information security controls, and procedures so as to manage institutional risks such as cybersecurity, privacy, business continuity, and accessibility to data and other ICT resources of the University.
  4. Establish links and collaborate with other institutions of higher education, national and international organizations for the purpose of developing shared information and communication technology systems.
  5. Prepare annual ICT budget and prioritize university-wide investments in information technology and communication, in partnership with the management of the university so as to ensure efficient utilization of available human and financial resources.
  6. Perform such other functions relating to information and communication technology as shall be determined by management of the University

Tenure

The Director of ICT shall serve a term of four years and shall be eligible for the appointment for another term up to four years only.

  4. making physical arrangements for all academic functions of the University in close collaboration with the Director of Public Affairs;
  5. ensuring the maintenance of academic facilities in collaboration with the Director of Works and Physical Development;
  6. the preparation and issuance of statements of examination results, transcripts and certificates;
  7. the preparation and publication of academic materials, including the Handbook of Regulations for courses of study for Junior Members in consultation with the Head of Legal Services and the Director of Public Affairs; and
  8. the discharge of any other assignments that the Registrar shall deem necessary.

Duties

The Director of Finance shall:
  1. call for and receive moneys due to the University and make on behalf of the University the authorised payments;
  2. ensure that throughout the University proper books of accounts and records of the property of the University are kept in a manner and form required by Council;
  3. report to the Finance and General Purposes Committee a case of failure to maintain the financial and other records of the University in the form required by the Council;
  4. prepare consolidated accounts of the units of the University;
  5. liaise with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) on financial matters;
  6. have oversight responsibility for the accounting functions of autonomous bodies, self-accounting and income generating units of the University;
  7. afford every facility to both internal and external auditors in the performance of their functions;
  8. advise on or raise funds for the University; and
  9. generally be responsible for ensuring that the University complies with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921) and other relevant enactments.

Tenure

 The Director of Finance shall serve a term of four years and shall be eligible for the appointment for another term up to four years only.
