ROLE: Condition Monitoring Supervisor
AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited’s Obuasi Gold Mine is almost done with the redevelopment phase, which will make it more modern, efficient, and long-term profitable. The underground mining operation is fully automated and is set up to mine an average of 5,000 t of ore per day.
We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated person to join our hardworking team as a Condition Monitoring Supervisor.
ROLE PURPOSE AND CONTEXT
The Condition Monitoring Supervisor is in charge of coordinating all condition monitoring tasks for underground equipment, surface support infrastructure, and the processing plant. This includes analyzing and reporting on vibrations, thermography, oil analysis/diagnosis, laser alignment, pump efficiency/audit, NDT, and technical support for the engineering department.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Figure out what the risks are for each task and make sure they are controlled before and while the task is being done.
- Report all problems and make sure they have been looked into and that the right steps have been taken on time.
- Do all the corrective actions that have been given to you or that fall under your responsibility, and make sure they are done on time.
- Follow the Environmental Management Plan for the site.
- Responsible for the environmental duties and performance of the team.
- Hold formal meetings with the team and tell them about any holes in the procedures for the environment.
- Follow all of the environmental work rules that the Departmental Manager has given you.
- Oversee Condition Monitoring and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technicians and help the Reliability Engineer get information for reports.
- Check the equipment and shafts that are underground.
- Collect information on vibration and other data so that problems with rotating machinery can be found and fixed.
- Find, talk about, and put into action possible ways to cut costs.
- Come up with ways to save money.
- Do the work on time.
- Check the asset health system to see how the equipment is doing and take action if there are signs that it might break down.
- Turn off equipment if there is a high risk or if it is unsafe to use.
Qualifications and Experience
At least a diploma or the technical equivalent in mechanical engineering. • Level 1 qualifications in non-destructive testing, vibration analysis, and infrared thermography.
Experience
- At least six (6) years of experience in the mining industry, with at least three to five years in an engineering operating facility.
- Knowledge of the Ghana Minerals and Mining (Health Safety and Technical) Regulation
Legal Requirement
• Must have a MINCOM Inspecting Engineer Certificate of Competency
