Job Title: Director MFS

Job Purpose

The right person will become the Director of Mobile Financial Services (MFS) in the MFS Department and join our team. He or she will report to the Chief Executive Officer and be in charge of leading and managing the MFS P&L entity’s overall business and performance. The MFS Director will be in charge of analyzing and defining customers, market needs, and trends to make sure the company meets its goals.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and grow the core transactional business of MFS, which includes pricing, incentives, and distribution.
  • Work on your business’s main revenue sources, improve the ones you already have, and create new ones.
  • Look at and make sure that trade incentive plans are competitive so that MFS Revenue grows and is maximized.
  • Give advice on how to run the agent network, make sure it grows at the right rate, offer incentives, and push for performance, quality, visibility, and liquidity.
  • Make a solid plan to maximize the growth of the predicted market and to find risks and opportunities.
  • Gives direction and keeps an eye on efforts to get new customers, maintains the number of new subscribers needed, the average revenue per user (ARPU), and incentives for getting new customers, and keeps churn to a minimum.
  • Make sure the product roadmap is carried out in a way that meets customer needs.
  • Keep an eye on how the product is doing and how it’s changing, and take corrective actions when needed.
  • Come up with a strategy for MFS’s liquidity management to get the most out of direct distribution, the Super-Agent model, the sub-dealer model, and remote banking.
  • Make sure MFS is seen as the most innovative product by giving strategic directions.
  • Work with the regulator to put in place and update the industry’s policies, and make sure management is on board with them.
  • Implements and documents effective risk management policies.
  • Knows everything there is to know about the business unit’s costs and ways to make money.
  • Come up with and carry out detailed plans for optimizing costs.

Needed Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree from a college or university in economics, marketing, finance, management, communications, or a related field. An MBA is a plus.
  • 7–10 years of experience in a similar job, including 5 years of leading MFS teams.
  • It’s best if you have experience in telecoms, e-commerce, software, finance, or other related fields.
  • You must have worked in Emerging Markets before.

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to be a change agent and help new ideas get put into action.
  • Very good at planning and keeping track of time.
  • Proven success and experience with MFS and transactional business.
  • A solid understanding of Ghana’s financial market and the rules that govern it.
  • Shown that they have the skills to introduce and carry out key MFS growth initiatives.
  • Knowledge of how things are sold in the market.
  • The ability to make and keep good business relationships both inside and outside the company.
  • Able to work in an organization that is driven by performance.
  • Aware of different cultures and able to work well in different places.
  • A good understanding of project management, especially when it comes to putting business solutions into place and managing risks and changes.
  • A strong background in making products.
  • The ability to use both qualitative and quantitative analysis tools, such as financial models.
  • A strong understanding of mobile financial services, banking channels that don’t require a branch, and payment platforms for transactions in Emerging Markets.
  • Strategic thinking, profit-and-loss management, and a focus on the budget
