AI Performance Modeller Job in UK 2026 (£120,000 to £150,000 Annually) | Olix

Olix is recruiting a world-class AI Performance Modeller to join its elite engineering team in London in 2026, offering a highly competitive annual salary between £126,000 and £154,000, plus equity and exceptional benefits. This is a flagship opportunity for international specialists in computer architecture, performance modelling, and AI systems who are seeking a UK-based role with full visa sponsorship and comprehensive relocation support.

Based at Olix’s headquarters in King’s Cross, you will operate at the heart of Europe’s most dynamic AI and deep-tech ecosystem, helping shape the future of optical and accelerator-based computing through rigorous, data-driven performance analysis.

About Role

In this role, you will own and develop the analytical and simulation models that guide Olix’s optical compute (OTPU) architecture and software roadmap. You will build both functional simulators and high-fidelity, cycle-accurate models to explore complex design spaces, identify bottlenecks, and influence critical hardware and software decisions.

Sitting at the intersection of hardware architecture, software tooling, and machine learning workloads, this position is ideal for engineers who thrive on quantitative analysis, system-level thinking, and rapid iteration. Your work will directly influence architectural trade-offs, scheduling strategies, and long-term platform direction.

About Hiring Firm

Olix is a next-generation AI hardware company building breakthrough optical computing systems designed to redefine performance and efficiency at scale. Headquartered in King’s Cross, London, the company offers a premium working environment, top-tier equipment, and a strong ownership culture through stock options.

Olix actively supports international hiring with full UK visa sponsorship and relocation services, ensuring a smooth transition for global talent. The company is known for its ambitious mission, elite engineering culture, and significant investment in people, tools, and long-term innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain functional simulators of the OPTU subsystem and full compute pipeline
  • Develop and own architectural and cycle-accurate performance models to analyse throughput, latency, and utilisation
  • Instrument and analyse real workloads such as LLMs, diffusion models, and graph workloads to collect detailed traces
  • Run large-scale design-space explorations to evaluate trade-offs and guide hardware, software, and optical roadmaps
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and propose architectural or scheduling improvements
  • Build Python and C++ tooling for trace parsing, statistical analysis, and visualisation
  • Integrate performance models into CI pipelines to provide automated performance regression testing
  • Package complex simulation results into clear, decision-ready engineering insights

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building performance or power models for CPUs, GPUs, ASICs, or accelerators
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python with experience in cycle-accurate or discrete-event simulators
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture, memory systems, interconnects, and performance analysis theory
  • Familiarity with machine learning workloads and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX
  • Ability to read RTL or hardware schematics and discuss micro-architectural trade-offs with hardware teams
  • Strong data analysis and visualisation skills with the ability to communicate complex results clearly
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related field
