The school was first founded in September 1968 and it was named “International Kindergarten” by Mrs. Jane Alhassan, an experienced trained teacher, and wife of Mr. Ronald Issufu Alhassan, in order that their children could be taught in a small group using their house in Tamale. In 1997 a group of concerned parents approached ‘Auntie Jane’ and suggested that she should extend her school so that the Kindergarten children could continue in a Primary School under her supervision.
The school was then named after the late Mr. Edmond Alhassan who was awarded a scholarship to Cambridge University in England and became the first university graduate from the Northern Region of Ghana.
