African countries that produce cocoa in large quantities
Cocoa is one of the most important cash crops exported by some African countries. The largest producer of cocoa in the world is Ivory Coast followed by Ghana as the second world’s largest producer
The cocoa crop grows well in tropical climates and production is therefore dominated by countries in those regions, while consumption is done by countries in temperate regions of the world.
Cocoa is an important crop because it is a source of income, food, raw materials for the chocolate industry and cosmetic industry, employment, and a source of livelihood for millions of small holder farmers.
The planting of cocoa in Africa has contributed immensely to the development of the economy. This is due to an increase in demand from the world market.
As the demand for cocoa keeps increasing around the world, due to the great performance of the chocolate industry, countries that produce cocoa on a large scale are expected to strengthen their leadership and create more opportunities for local suppliers.
The price of cocoa in the world market changes in value quickly and this is based on the demand and supply of the market.
